Abbeville is a hidden French gem, close to everything . Near beaches, war memorials ( battle of the Somme ) chateau's to see and the shopping is great. People are friendly. Lots of money has poured into Picardie due to Macron and this being his home area. Paris is close and so is Amiens and its canals and catherdrals. We've come many times and usually for a short stay, but the city is a not untypical French location - part historic part very (post WW2) modern. It has good places to stay and at least a couple of pleasant dining locations. We have to spend more than three days so I cant talk about a longer stay. The property has been renovated to a very high standard and it is beautiful and very comfortable. The grounds are stunning and we dipped our toes in the pool which was very warm. There is an assortment of cute animals who are all very friendly. There is private parking and it’s just a very short walk into the centre of town. Eric and his wife were incredibly welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast is included and there was an extensive choice, including five different breads and home made jams.
