FAQs about hotels in Dijon

Monumental City of Mustard

Home to Dukes of Burgundy for 4 centuries, Dijon is a magnificent combination of colour and culture. Set on a large square with fountains, the Ducal Palace houses a fabulous fine art museum. You can climb Philippe Le Bon tower here for wonderful views of the multi-coloured tiles typical of the city’s roofs.

Equally as vibrant are the half-timbered facades in the Old Town. The best examples are in cobbled Place François Rude, where relaxed bars and cafes offer good people watching.

On a grander scale is Place Darcy whose Porte Guillaume arch faces a shady park. Dijon’s many green spaces include huge Parc de la Colombière whose central path was considered by Louis XIV the most beautiful in his kingdom. Another popular walk is along Promenade de l'Ouche starting near the hospital and ending at large Kir Lake where you can swim.

This is an evidently wealthy city, so there are plenty of places to shop, but a must-see is Les Halles market, designed by Gustav Eiffel, architect of the tower.

Don’t check out of your Dijon hotel, apartment or B&B without touching the owl on the side of Notre Dame church – use your left hand for good luck. Dijon Airport is a domestic airport, but the city is easily reached by car and train.

Lovely clean city can walk everywhere.

Lovely clean city can walk everywhere. Not much to see after 3 days at most unless you're filming a medieval period film or have to work or study. I say take a a late night walk through the city with the open empty pedestrian streets and no humans around. Quite impressive. But nah..not much else. Good afternoon stopover. Furthermore Dijon needs to let go of their co-dependent relationship with mustard. The seeds are no longer grown there. :) They are imported.

This was our third visit to Dijon as our daughter is studying there. So many places to eat and drink. Some fantastic finds and we are always finding new ones. Le Jacquemart is a great place for a drink or to eat. Steak and chips and a bottle of wine there is a must do ! The Blue Dog is in a lively square and is another place for a good drink and easy food. There are so many other gems we have discovered and the list is always growing. Dijon is also so easy to navigate if you stay in the centre, if you like to wander around and check out shops as well as bars and restaurants, its perfect.

Dijon was one of our favourite destinations in our tour of Europe. It is so easy to get around by foot - no need for a vehicle. The charm, food and great service provided by the locals was next level. We will be back.

Dijon is a lovely medieval city, interesting. Walkable everywhere. Good bike paths.t he late night walks through the medieval old town part is quite something. Empty and ominous. Not many people at night in some parts so rather haunting. During the day is fine. 2-4 day max.

The heart of the city is very walkable: from the Palais des Ducs in the north to the Cité de la Gastronomie in the south, most people will not need public transport even though the city has very comprehensive bus, tram and bike share systems. The architecture is fascinating and well-preserved, and with most city centre streets fully pedestrianised, you feel safe wandering around and rubber-necking (although beware of cyclists and e-scooters). The food and drink offering alone makes you want to stay for a week! We think the Cité de la Gastronomie is worth a long visit - unfortunately we only stayed overnight so most of the places in there were already shut, but it looks like a fantastic place to discover and sample some of the finest fare from Burgundy and further afield!

Beautiful city, plenty of places to see and visit.

Beautiful city, plenty of places to see and visit. Very easy to get around on foot. We also used the little 'navette' mini-bus (which is free) to get to the station. Definitely recommend the 'Owl Trail' - do it as early as possible in your stay to get a great overview of the whole city and help find your way around afterwards. Great choice of restaurants. Of the four places we ate, two were excellent, one good, and only one was poor. Check visiting times - some places close on Tuesdays. Museum of Burgundian Life is well worth a visit.

We booked here as was a great location for exploring Dijon on our long weekend trip to Eastern France. Only a 15 minute walk into the city centre, it was ideally located for us to be able to explore Dijon. Underground parking with electric charging points was a real plus meaning we were able to head onto our next destination with ease. Rooms were large, modern and comfortable. Overall a nice stay.

The location of the apartment is unbeatable. You walk aoutside, turn right, turn left and you're in the historical centre of Dijon. It's safe, easy access and comes with a secure carpark. Really modern and well presented. Bathroom great and a kitchen with all you need. Not that you need to use it being in the gastronomic heartland of France.

Lovely apartment hotel with parking in basement (an affordable €10) which is a rarity in a city. Very modern and clean in a safe area walking distance to the centre. It was the best accommodation we had whilst on a road trip through France. Friendly staff on desk.

Great location in the center of Dijon, nice and comfortable room (like a department). The staff resolved all our doubts and it was super friendly. We would definitely stay again in Hotel des Ducs.
