    The area itself is great, very rural, with narrow windy...

    The area itself is great, very rural, with narrow windy roads, that the locals are clearly very used to driving at warp-speed :) Lots of walks, lots of waterfalls, rivers, castles, little towns and villages to visit (Salers, Aurillac, Super Besse, and many others!) Riom-es Montagnes is practical and has the Gentiane Express which was a clear win for all the children. Just... be mindful of the property you rent out. This was our only disappointment.
