What a gem of a hotel! A couple of minutes work from the historic city centre, with the hotel itself being a beautiful historic building. Our room was wonderful, extremely sizeable bathroom and beautiful bedroom. We stayed here for one night with our dog on our way back to the Netherlands and it was the perfect choice. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. An added bonus was that we were able to utilise underground parking in the city centre (with charging stations for our electric car), with payment for the parking being done at the hotel. This allowed us to leave a lot of our luggage from our road trip safely in the car. We didn't have the breakfast, but it looked wonderful! I will definitely recommend staying here if you are visiting Orleans!

The Heroine of the Loire Valley

If it weren’t for Joan of Arc, Orléans may not have become the beautiful city it is today. The teenage heroine of France liberated the city during the Hundred Years War, a fact commemorated with a May festival and a statue of her on horseback in a large square (well, hexagon).

From Joan’s former house nearby, a road leads to Sainte-Croix Cathedral. Arriving from this direction, the cathedral appears somewhat overshadowed by terraced buildings, until you step out into its square and realise what an incredible structure it is.

To the north is the fine art museum and in the opposite direction are the shops, restaurants and bars of Rue de Bourgogne. Place du Châtelet houses more shops, overlooked by narrow half-timbered buildings. Just south, historic Georges V Bridge crosses the fast-flowing Loire River, connecting the historic centre with modern suburbs.

South of the river are the Parc des Expos and Zenith d’Orléans event centres, while further away is the Parc Floral de la Source – gardens centred on the source of the Loiret River. Even further south is the tranquil Sologne forest, while to the west the Loire passes many wonderful castles.

    I stayed overnight on my way back to Calais.

    I stayed overnight on my way back to Calais. I wish that I had spent a day or two exploring Orleans. There was so much character and history in the city. Also, the walks along the riverside looked beautiful. I will definitely come back for a longer time to experience more that this city has to offer. Try talking along the Rue du Faubourg de Bourgogne. There are some amazing buildings and a vast array of small eateries and bars. And the well-worn cobbled streets seem to take you back in time. So much to see.

    Place Martroi great central spot , lots of cafes eateries etc. in the old town & down to the river. Cathedral lived up to expectations. Don’t bother with the sightseeing train - little to see that you can’t do on foot.

    Orleans is a nice city with impressive museums, art...

    Orleans is a nice city with impressive museums, art galleries and the cathedral. Joanne of Arc is of course the principal theme. There is a good selection of restaurants but cafes are somewhat more limited. The hotel was within easy short walking distance of the city centre.

    Orléans is an interesting and beautiful city with many interesting places to visit. I loved the architecture the fascinating houses, the river, the relaxed lifestyle, the cities history and the beautiful countryside along the river. The cathedral is a beautiful building with a great sense of peace and calm the art gallery is fascinating. I enjoyed the various events that took place over the weekends in Saint Joan's Square. There are p!entry of places to eat and cafes where you can just sit and relax and watch the world go by.

    Nothing except breakfast spots open before 10am so time for coffee and croissants at a cafe first! Wonderful history & historical buildings, art, shopping, delightful river and canal, cobbled lanes with masses of bars & cafes, gardens & unexpected nooks. Highly recommended

    The location of the hotel was great and very close to the train station when we were leaving to get our train to Paris. We got an upgrade on arrival which was a lovely surprise and the staff on the front desk were amazing. Our room was spacious and comfortable and we had a great stay here while exploring beautiful Orleans.

    Towards the outskirts of Orleans but close enough to the centre to walk in for an evening meal. Contained within an old building the hotel had modern, well maintained internal decoration that created an excellent environment. The parking was great, just through the old central entrance and plenty of room to park.

    The location was superb. We were watching the start of the Tour de France and only had a 5 minute walk to the Cathedral area. The apartment was compact and suited our needs. In a very quiet location with secure parking, which is always a bonus.
