It was a really big spacious house which was big enough for all the families who stayed there and meant we weren't on top of each other. The multiple bathrooms made it very comfortable. It is also a great location to access the lower lakes.

The Old Grammar has had a glow up and boy is it good. From the second we arrived Esther, Lauren and the team could not have been more helpful to us and our canine companion. Little touches like the freshly baked flapjacks and dogs treats for the pup go the extra mile and breakfast too is a cut above. We wished we had more time to enjoy the beautiful public rooms, terrace and garden but we loved it so much we have already booked our next stay. Fantastically located to enjoy clear views over the iconic racecourse the Old Grammar is an unbeatable base to enjoy the delights of Cartmel and the Lake District. Thanks very much to the OG team. We can’t wait to come back.

Arnside was very peaceful when I stayed there probably...

Arnside was very peaceful when I stayed there probably because the weather was rather cool for July. I enjoyed the lovely views and had a walk along the promenade. It was wonderful to be able to leave my car for as long as I wanted. The Bakery has great quiches and bread and I enjoyed my drink in the local wine bar. Yes, it's generally easy to get around though I noticed a hill. The Fish and Chip shop is very popular.

The hotel looked tired and unkempt.

The hotel looked tired and unkempt. The door to the bathroom was badly painted and still had the masking tape down the back of the door and paint splatters on the wall. My room had nice views through both windows. The bed was comfortable. Food in the restaurant was average. Unfortunately, not somewhere I would recommend.

Sleepy little seaside town with nice beaches, great transport links and stunning views across the bay and to the fells. Plenty to explore, walks and history. Also close to RSPB Leighton Moss reserve. There's also the best fish and chip shop around, I didn't get to it but it looked super busy so I'll be back to give it a try.

Nice room with a brilliant view down onto the bay. Not far from local attractions. Railway station. Easy to get to from M6 for a stop over, which is what we needed it for on a long journey to north Scotland. Dinner in the restaurant was fab. Managed to park in their car park. Staff very friendly.

Go and stay a couple of days or so mid week, its better value. Train travel is good and you can do other walks along the coast. The sceanery is great, certainly from the Knott. Couple of good pubs, and plenty of caf's and ice cream outlets. Well served by a couple of Loudis shops for generl needs. Go and enjoy

Lovely quaint hotel with lots of character, it is a Thwaites pub but was still able to feel like an independent. The room was a good size and comfortable. The food was good with the breakfast being the highlight. Fresh fruit salad available and the Lakes breakfast was freshly cooked. Lovely location right on the estuary.
