FAQs about hotels in Bath

Roman Remains and Georgian Grandeur

Wonderful, World Heritage-listed Bath is an impressive mix of Georgian architecture and Roman legacy. Its most famous landmark is the fantastic, natural hot spring Roman Baths. Although everything above the pillar bases is from a later period, you still get an idea of its appearance in Roman times. Sadly you can’t bathe here, but across the street the rooftop pool at Thermae Bath Spa offers views of Bath Abbey and the surrounding hills.

Check out the stained-glass windows in the abbey, England’s last remaining Gothic church. Its square houses Pump Rooms dispensing hot spring water from the Roman baths.

Just behind, the Parade Gardens by the River Avon overlook Bath Rugby Club, the multi-levelled Pulteney Weir and Grade I-listed Pulteney Bridge, lined with shops. Other Bath shopping options are the Southgate Shopping Centre, the bohemian Walcot Street market, and high street stores on Milsom and George streets.

North is The Circus, a circular square lined with Georgian townhouses, only marginally less impressive than the Royal Crescent down the road. You can now visit number 1 Royal Crescent, restored to its 18th-century glory.

Before heading to Bristol Airport from your Bath accommodation, take time to try the famous Sally Lunn Bun and stop at the pleasant pubs along the Kennet and Avon Canal.

Great city break, lots to do and loads of great eating places. Dined at the Craven with their speciality pies. Had a great Indian meal the Sepoy club which was one of the best Indian meals I have ever had. We made it to the rugby match with Bath playing Bristol, great game.

Bath has everything you need for a short break.

Bath has everything you need for a short break. Culture, history and food/drinking/retail establishments to suit all tastes and budgets. Fill your boots with whatever takes your fancy! Cocktails at The Hideout a must, they really know their stuff. Ponte Vecchio on the river, was delightful. Take in numerous strolls up and around the streets of Bath and along the river bank, many a watering hole to break the day up too.

I absolutely love Bath — there’s a reason it’s considered one of the most elegant cities in the UK. The stunning Georgian architecture, Roman baths, and rich history give it an unmistakable charm. I’ve visited many times, as my grandparents lived nearby, and every trip reminds me why I enjoy it so much. Bath has a timeless beauty and welcoming atmosphere that always makes me look forward to returning.

I generally couldn't fault it, evrything is within walking distance, no traffic or parking to worry about, fantastic architectural views with modern day amenities blended in, plenty of Cafe's, Bar's and Restaurants, all the food I experienced was of a high standard, (not the usual microwaved pub grub) If you like your Italian food I would suggest you true Amarone Kitchen, a very friendly and professionally run restaurant with Superb food and a great selection of decent wines. You might like to try the square outside the Cathedral late morning early afternoon, a lovely place to sit with a coffee and listen to some busking, if your lucky you may get to hear some professionally sung Opera. Bath is truely a great place to visit, I look forward to returning some day not in the to distant future.

Bath is a lovely city, with lots of things to see and do.

Bath is a lovely city, with lots of things to see and do. Be prepared to do lots of walking - that's the only way you'll get to see everything! The Roman Baths are definitely worth going to see, so much history and you get given a handset to guide you through each area. There are also lots of lovely restaurants to dine in. The only thing I didn't think was worth the money is the boat trip at Pulteney Bridge. It cost £28 for two of us for an hour journey. There wasn't much to see at all. We went along the river Avon, when we were half way through there was a weir, we then turned around and returned back to Pulteney Bridge.

One of the best hotels we have stayed in. Staff were lovely and most helpful. We were served by Clio and she was brilliant. The hotel is clean and modern, a very pleasant place to be. The location is perfect, right in the centre of Bath with everything you need within a few minutes walk. Facilities are fantastic. Lovely Swimming pool with Sauna and Steam room to use free of charge. We were worried about there being no car park but there is a very large public carpark 3/4 minutes walk away with ample spaces (Charlotte Street).

This is one of the best boutique hotels I have stayed at so far. It is in an old 18th century building but was recently renovated. The decour, the choice of colours (loved the royal blue with white), the finishing, the attention to detail - everything was superb. Our room faced the inner garden that added to the beauty of the place. The bed was super comfortable, there was also slippers and robes for the guests. The staff was very nice, helpful and responsive. When I am in Bath again, I will definitelystay in Kennard again!

The staff was very friendly and helpful, the room and bathroom were very clean and spacious. The hotel is a bit removed from the city centre (hence the lower price) but actually it is within walking distance (15-20 minutes depending on pace) and 5 minutes by bus. The room has airco and a little balcony overlooking the rear of the buildings.
