Fabulous comfortable accommodation that’s great value for money. Comfy bed, lovely shower, friendly staff and a delicious cooked breakfast that is included makes this a great place to base yourself when touring this pretty part of Wales. Free and easy parking is also a bonus here. Crickhowell is a pretty town nearby that’s also well worth a visit.

I loved the vibe in this hotel. Very characteristic but also modern comforts. Lots of activity in the bars and restaurants. Very lively. Beautiful spacious room. Friendly people. I loved the restaurant. We had the best meal of our trip to Wales here. Breakfast was outstanding. Great table service, drink top ups. Loved the hospitality. The town is lovely as well. Parking lot behind the hotel.

The instructions were super clear, the rooms even though around the back were well lit and fully accessable. the room we stayed in was gorgeous! just a shame there were no stars to see through the unbeliveable skylight in the bathroom, which again, is to die for!

We were very happy with the location of our cottage.

We were very happy with the location of our cottage. Blaenavon as a Welsh Heritage town has lots to offer, but is ideally suited as a base for visiting round and about. The nearby cafe at the Heritage centre is open six days a week and serves good food at a very reasonable price. There is a restaurant/gastro pub no more than 100 yards from the cottage for fine dining.

    First visit to South Wales.

First visit to South Wales. Lots to do in the area and a short drive away. The Big Pit was great and we felt immersed in the history of the area. Amazing top quality restaurant in town called Butterflies. We visited the Brecon Beacons and did the beautiful 4 waterfalls walk.

A fascinating place if you are interested in industrial heritage. Make sure you visit the Iron Works. Book an underground tour at Big Pit. Travel on the steam railway. Walk around the former slag heaps – now a nature reserve. Don’t miss out on a posh dinner at the Lion hotel. Stop off at the Whistle Inn for a tasty burger and lashings of chips. Make time for the town centre Museum as well. There’s 22KW EV charging in the town centre not far from the hotel.

Visited in February so village very quiet.

Visited in February so village very quiet. To be honest we spent little time there because there were walks we wanted to do and places we wanted to see outside the village. We used a pizza/kebab takeaway which delivered one evening, and the food was great. There are many historical things in the village and area but we did not really have time for all we wanted to do and look into these as well.

It is a heritage town with two two must see sites, the Big Pit and the Ironworks. They have been restored with really fascinating displays and experiences. At the Big Pit you actually go down 300feet to see what working down a mine was like. The ironworks is more of an historical site. Here I would recommend the sound and light show. The town although needing restoration has some excellent eating places such as The Lion and The Butterfly Bar.

The town itself is a small ex-mining town, that offers plenty of history in terms of mining, iron and steel works. It offers little in terms of shops, restaurants etc, but tourists mainly go their to visit the Big Pit. This is a really interesting Coal Mine and Museum and offers the chance to go 300 feet underground into the mine. Really impressed - so much more than expected and highly recommend it. There is also a brewery next door, so you can stock up after your visit !!
