Outstanding food, some of the best meals we have had in Devon. The Venison was sublime and the steak was just the best steak ever, desserts were just wow! The actual Inn was the cosiest and full of history and mystery! Overall a superb place to eat and sleep, staff were very friendly and very hardworking, A really great place to stay. We're going back again! Thank you!

We stayed New Years Eve. We had booked a room and advised we were vegan. We had the most fantastic meal, so many courses, such great flavours. The chef asked what sort of food we liked in advance and the meal was superb. We will be back. The staff team were attentive and very nice. We felt well looked after.

Angela was a very hospitalbe, welcoming and helpful host. She gave us great tips for places to visit and things to do. Her cooked breakfast was delicious, and there was additionally a great variation of cereals, yoghurts, and fruit. The room and bathroom were cosy and clean, and we instantly felt at home. Heathergate Cottage was easily reachable by car and is located in a calm, relaxing region close to the beautiful Dartmoor.

    Very easy to find with plentiful, safe parking.

    Very easy to find with plentiful, safe parking. A truly beautiful building with garden facing directly onto Dartmoor with good walking literally straight from the door. The restaurant was superb, and all staff made us feel at home. Alll in all, a great example of what can be achieved when people focus on customer service.

    We stayed for 2 nights and received a warm friendly welcome. Our room (Hayloft) was such a lovely size, but did feel it would have been better with a King size bed. But it was comfortable and the view was lovely. We ate in both nights and thought the food was excellent, It is a really good place to say, especially out of season when there are less people but the staff and food are the same and the walks are just as good!

    Welcoming and helpful-we arrived in our motorhome.Warm cosy thatched inn. Beautiful furniture in our large room. Excellent meal in the dining room -my husband loved the baked celeriac with broccoli and tiny carrots. We especially enjoyed the proximity to the Granite way for cycling and railway history. I imagine Bearslake is really busy in summer -great for an out of season break!

    Beautiful unspoilt property full of charm. It’s an Inn not a Hotel so there are some understandable restrictions on check in times but that’s not a criticism. Everyone who was there at the time of my stay were very friendly and the food and service was excellent.

    I didn't have breakfast, but my daughter and her family liked the breakfast hampers. This is the third time I have stayed at the Bearslake Inn and I really think it is a well run, picturesque hotel with delightful, friendly staff and good facilities.

    The atmosphere of the historic building and the beautiful surroundings on the edge of the Dartmoor National Park make a stay in this hotel to a special occasion. The quality of the food is high. Owners Lisa and Julian are great and friendly hosts.

    We stayed here with family en route to Bristol airport. Dinner at the hotel was tasty though a little pricey. The building itself has lots of charm, with a lovely garden, and the rooms were comfortable. The staff were very friendly.
