FAQs about hotels in Bristol

From Brunel to Banksy!

Britain’s 4th most popular visitor destination, Bristol features Brunel’s magnificent Clifton Suspension Bridge spanning the Avon River. More Brunel handiwork is in the harbor, where his SS Great Britain steamship is moored. Pirate walks here detail the city’s underground naval history.

Further north in Clifton is the world’s oldest zoo outside a capital city. Other Bristol attractions include At-Bristol Museum and the Grade I registered historic Corn Exchange with its 4 "nails" outside where money changed hands. Also worth a visit is St. Nicholas Market, in a Georgian square home to several bars and a Slow Food Market on the 1st Sunday of every month. Other Bristol shopping options include shopping centers at Cabot Circus, and Cribbs Causeway on the outskirts.

As a student city, Bristol really comes to life after dark. The live music scene here is fantastic and has given way to several internationally known bands, but for something more alternative head to Eastside.

Another option for alternative-seekers is the work of hometown street artist Banksy. Just like Booking.com’s Bristol accommodations, his work is spread throughout this fabulous city.

This Gateway to the West Country is served by Bristol Airport and Temple Meads train station. The old Bristol to Bath rail line is now a cycle route and makes a great day trip.

Best places to visit include the SS Great Britain and the M Shed (a free to enter museum) which are quite close together along the waterfront. Also the cathedral was vey interesting. Lots of cafes and restaurants everywhere. Use of the water ferry a bonus to get from place to place. We even used the ferry to get to the railway station at the end of our trip.

There were lots of interesting things to do for a weekend. We visited the SS Great Britain and the Clifton Suspension Bridge and museum. We also enjoyed the Bristol Museum and Art Gallery. The Harbourside was lovely with lots of nice restaurants, and there were lots of green spaces.

Having eloped to Bristol in the 1960s and spent 10 years there, I recently returned and was very disappointed and appalled that the city has become horrible to view. The City Council are a disgrace. A once-beautiful City has become an eyesore, a dump. God forgive the City planners. The people deserve better.

A city of 2 personalities: Exciting, vibrant, community-driven, great food and music scene. At the same time it is highly unpleasant: Drugs, homeless, dirty, unsafe, no-go areas and car crime. It's a melting pot. Be prepared.

Not many people mention Bristol in their top ten places to visit in the UK, but it's a really nice city with a youthful, fun vibe and plenty of places to see - from the Cathedral to the wharf areas to the Banksy spots to the fun cafes and bars and restaurants around Corn Street.

I was there for work but it's a lovely city. I did find the homeless people unnerving. I normally study in London so I am sadly used to homeless people on the streets but somehow the Bristol ones were more threatening. I particularly enjoyed visiting a wild swimming site and a local National Trust property

Excellent location in the city centre, close to local amenities, super passionate staff, and clean facilities. The room my partner and I stayed in boasted a comfortable double bed with clothes storage in a large room, shower rooms were clean and accessible. Free luggage hold between check-out and our bus to the airport, and a lovely social room downstairs with free tea & coffee! Easily the best place we’ve stayed in when visiting Bristol, would not hesitate to return.

The location was great. Access to the city centre was a short bus journey away and there are local shops including a supermarket within walking distance. The receptionist was very helpful when we had issues with our room type and meal order. The interior decor is beautiful and very clean, and the exterior is also very impressive. The bonus was free parking, and the hotel is located outside the Bristol Clean Air Zone.

Room very small but clean and adequate. Room in a quiet part of the hotel but very noisy guests. High level of noise in public parts of the hotel. Road and building works made it difficult to find. Early morning (8am) pavements were filthy around hotel, refuse. Nice bar, helpful personnel. Good to find parking, but difficult to access and small spaces. Altogether useful to have a hotel in Bristol city centre,.

The Reddison Blue hotel is in Bristol city centre at 10 minutes walking from all attractions and the shopping centre. The beds are super comfy, dog friendly (bowls and mat provided for our Nala), and parking inside the structure that needs to be reserved. Staff are always ready to help with courtesy and professionalism.
