The hotel was walking distance from both lakes. Although Buttermere is a very busy spot with tourists we found it peaceful, pleasant and safe to walk around. There were a lot of dog walkers having a great time. WiFi and mobile phone signal is poor and intermittent but it was good to be off line for a few hours. Both the dinner and breakfast were good. Car parking spaces seemed a bit tight as this hostel was popular in the area, but we still managed to get a parking space at the sloping side area. Shared bathrooms and toilets were sufficient and did not have to wait. An old church and Syke Farm Tea Room were within walking distance. The perfect base for our walks to Haystacks and other local peaks. There is nothing that we could criticise, just lovely. Would definitely recommend and if we decide to walk in this area again would try to book.
