Love coming here. Plenty to do. Castlewellan country park just around the corner. Pubs and restaraunts near by. The Hill Yard nice place to eat. Maginns nice place to eat and drinks. Castlewellan is perfectly placed to explore the forest park, complete with peace maze! tollymore, silent valley and the seaside of Newcastle. There are some lovely scenic drives with plenty of pubs along the way. In the town there are some goods bars and restaurants, Maginns, Hillyard House both serve excellent food that is also good value and there are various takeaways too. Mourne Archery is a great activity whether in a couple or family group we had a wonderful time and Katy the instructor made the whole thing fun and informative, especially shooting at the balloons.Guest review byKELLYUnited Kingdom - 8.0
This is a friendly town with lots of amenities.
This is a friendly town with lots of amenities. If you turn right out of the hotel (which is in a side street) there are beautiful walks in castle grounds and a walled garden which is being renovated for reopening in the autumn. All around you are the beautiful mountains of Mourne.
