We loved the village and all the facilities.

We loved the village and all the facilities. The people were really friendly and it was great to have shops and coffee shop and pubs close by. It is also beautiful countryside around and easily accessible walking for all abilities, including our 2 year old granddaughter.

Lots to do in the local area, we were limited in time through work etc. but we'll definitely re-visit the area and will definitely stay in the same accommodation. There's loads to do locally, great countryside views and walks. The Blue John Mines and Speedwell caverns are definitely worth a visit as is the area as a whole.

Chinley was the ideal place to stay for our purposes of visiting the Peak District (the one part of the UK we had not yet visited). We visited Glossop, drove along the A57 over Snake Pass, Castleton, Hathersage, Chapel-en-le-Frith, Buxton and Bakewell. Chinley itself was a quiet and pleasant place.

A great base for the Peak District.

A great base for the Peak District. Village has excellent pubs and a very good Indian restaurant. You can walk up Chinley Churn with its viewpoints directly from the village or take your car part of the way. Just a few miles from Buxton which is well worth visiting.

I am surprised there aren't more higher end accommodations like the Old Hall in the Peak District, I am more surprised at just how good and hard working Old Hall is. It's an excellent place to stay, one which doesn't rest on its laurels or gets sloppy due to the lack of competition. I have stayed there four times over the last few years and enjoyed every trip. One issue; they could do with a decent claret on the wine list, that's all.

The nature reserve was a nice walk from where we stayed, great for the muscles on the thigh's, definitely a place for walkers of experience and adults and children that are wishing to take up walking as a hobby, older generation can get around in a car,the local shop as always is bit pricey,so if going on a budget thenmake sure you take all you need, the local people are friendly to

Wonderful hotel. Chinley is a charming little town with lots of hikes nearby. The hotel is about a 10 min walk from the train station whcih is easily accessible from manchester. I can't emphasize how nice the staff is-- it was raining heavily and when we asked if they could please call us a cab to take us to the station, they kindly offered to drive us there. Food is great, sights are beautiful, great place to relax and reset.

Brilliant location. Less than 5 minutes walk from Chinley train station, opposite the chip shop and 2 minutes from the Londis which means it's great even if you don't have a car. Fantastic view from the balcony. A comfortable flat with all the facilities you could need. Tea and coffee provided which was a nice touch. A great size for 2 or 3 people.
