We loved the character of the old building that has been precisely renovated to the period. No money was spared on making this property a luxurious stay for it's guests. The owners were very friendly and also a chef serving amazing dinners and breakfasts each day.

Cockermouth is a lovely town and makes it easy to reach other places at the north of the Lake District. Places to visit Maryport, Silloth, Keswick., Whinlatter. Cockermouth itself has lovely walk along the river and play areas for children.

We were in the middle of nowhere and needed to drive to get to places of interest and to eat out on an evening. We tried to use Uber but each time it stated no drivers in the area. I would not stay in this area again as there's nothing there

We found it very quiet on Saturday and Sunday evening , although a lot of the restaurants were either full or not open. We needed to book in advance. Note that quite a few restaurants & shops shut Mondays &Tuesdays ! Much nicer vibe when the shops were open.

Cockermouth is an unpretentious old Cumbrian market town brilliantly positioned for walking in the north lakes and an increasingly good variety of pubs, eateries, shops and galleries! It has the best lingerie boutique (!) and a plastic free shop, deli, best butchers and local cinema. But, be warned whilst I was in Cockermouth over New Year (30 Dec- 4 Jan), many of these venues were closed for the entirety of this festive period without advertising this on their websites and many of the eateries had stopped serving at about 8.30/9pm. Really recommend for eating the Trout Hotel and the Turkish restaurant Aspava and the Tithe tap bar. Not yet tried 41 Market Place and Fermento, but they are on my list for next time. Whilst I was on my own, the late operating hours of the Sainsbury and the Chinese take-away ‘Full-House’ saved me and was the freshest and best I have had in the UK for decades. There is also an Indian take-away next door to try next time.

Excellently situated, 8 minute walk to town centre, supermarkets close by. Beautifully furnished, had everything that was needed. Very comfortable lounge, spacious kitchen. The 3 bedrooms of excellent size, beds very comfortable, great nights sleep. The hosts were lovely, got back to me very quickly with any query. Would recommend to stay here if you’re going to Cockermouth, can’t be beaten in size and great value for money

The room was clean and comfortable and quite spacious. There was a reasonable amount of storage space. The bathroom was a little bit cramped. It was a great base location for exploring the northern part of the Lake District - Cockermouth, Keswick etc. The breakfast was very good and we had an evening meal on one night of our stay and this was excellent value for money.

Genuinely friendly and helpful staff in the bar and restaurants. We ate dinner on two nights and the food was excellent, cooked perfectly and well presented. The room was spacious and spotlessly clean and the bed comfortable. The hotel is very conveniently located within the town and there is ample parking.
