Great place to stay in beautiful countryside and also really near Alton Towers if you need to stay over before/after a long day in CBeebies land. The place was lovely very quiet and the scenery was amazing . I think when you go to quiet places the people you meet seem a lot more friendly and helpful . The Malthouse is compact, but perfect for a short break for two. We stayed two nights, eating in both of the local (walking distance pubs) note only one allows dogs. It's a beautiful retreat, close to Alton towers,but you in the country with beautiful views and surrounding areas. Ashbourne ,leek, congleton and Uttoxeter was where we visited and enjoyed. Jayne the host is simply a wonderful person. 2 pubs with in walking distance, Charlie Bassets is the one we went to and had a beautiful meal and drinks which were reasonably priced. They also use locally resourced food. Good location for going to other towns and villages in the car ,plus the peak district is on you're doorstep, plenty of walking tracks . Good internet connection and sky tv, also a very good parking area on the property and a safe parking area, out door sitting area with beautiful views of the countryside and the use of the summer house. Very easy to find and Jayne sends you an email with directions and how to access the annex, wifi password etc.Guest review byglennUnited Kingdom
