The hotel was very close to the bus stop which took us to Arbroath, a cute little village that we wanted to see. The bus station and cruise terminal were also close to the hotel. The dining options in Dundee were great, many to choose from, people in the shops friendly. The visit to the "Discovery" ship was great and would recommend this attraction. On the whole, it was easy to get around Dundee on foot or using the local bus. The local bus drivers were great and helpful to us as overseas visitors but some were very gruff, rude and unhelpful and assumed we would know things that as overseas visitors, we had no idea and spoke to us in a gruff and abrupt manner. V & A and the Thata restaurant for afternoon tea. Hop On Hop Off bus but a miserable unhelpful driver unfortunately. Stop off at the Law and walk to the top as views spectacular. Walk by the river. Dundee is a beautiful place by the sea. We went to the Verdant Jute Mill which is a must see!!! We ate supper at Malmaison and stayed there too. Great city with rich social history. So much to see. Rich musical past. V&A superb. Verdant Works, Discovery, the Carr Lightship. We live quite nearby but as my partner was playing for two nights with the Grand Gestures, we decided to treat ourselves, take it easy and stay in a hotel. The Apex was brilliant - great dockside location, and handy (easily walkable, even for me with my arthriticky hips and knees) for everything. Took a wee trip up to Arbroath - chips by the harbour. The hotel itself was very nice, comfortable and clean with fantastic staff. I can be quite picky when it comes to cleanliness so I am pleased that there were no issues at all to report here. It's a fairly basic hotel in the centre of Dundee, has everything you need for a short stay and with breakfast included, it's pretty good value for money.
