An attractive base for exploring Exmoor.

An attractive base for exploring Exmoor. A small range of eating places but more than adequate. We ate mainly at the Luttrell Arms. Dunster Castle certainly worth a visit. We would stay in Dunster again

Dunster is a beautiful old village with many interesting features. Not all, however, are wheelchair accessible. The Dunster Castle and gardens are lovely to walk around, but some steep paths and steps. NT provide a free scooter, which makes access much easier. I advise pre-booking as I believe they only have two. Minehead is 2 miles away, and Dunster Beach is 1.5 miles. There are buses to Minehead, Taunton and Blue Anchor Beach.

    Pretty traditional English village.

Pretty traditional English village. The Castle is well worth a visit. Great location for both countryside and seaside exploring. Be careful if you want to eat out on a Sunday evening as few places serve food past lunch and none after 7.15pm.

It was BH Sunday & Monday, even so many of the charming shops & Galleries were open. The buildings are so pretty, some over 600 years old. The Cornmarket is in remarkably good repair & is a feature in itself. The Castle rising above the wooded hill, & overlooking the entire town, is an almost fairy tale landscape. Originally built in the 11th century it has been changed & updated by different owners through the centuries. It’s a beautiful place to visit

Dunster is a fantastic old village with a fabulous castle and water mill. It is very easy to get around and also has the added bonus of a steam railway that stops at Dunster station which is a short walk out of the town. There’s also an amazing restaurant called Hamiltons a short distance from the accommodation.

Really enjoyed my trip to the Castle as well as my stay in the Luttrell Arms. Great also to do the tour of the Victorian Kitchens in the Castle for a small extra fee. (Really interesting & informative). Nice shops & cafes in Dunster itself. Evening meals in the Luttrell Arms very tasty although a bit pricey. Also worth booking a table so as not to be disappointed. Easy parking in the pay & display car park around the corner from the Luttrell Arms or in the High Street (free) near the Yarn Market, if you are lucky.

Dunster village is beautiful, very historical and picturesque. We were pleasantly surprised with Dunster Castle Hotel. Our hosts were very helpful and gave us a warm welcome. We had 2 rooms, both comfortable. There is parking behind the hotel. We were in the centre of the village so it's lovely to explore, we also went down to the beach and to see the old train station. Our breakfast was very good, a lovely place to stay.

Booked hotel stay but was placed in a air b and b 10 min walk away from main hotel highly inconvenient no access on site to restaurant or food or facilities no maid service to clean room daily. No wi fi no facilities like iron hair dryer WiFi maid service basic clothes hangers lacking no iron or reception service which is what I paid for. The total cost of this provision was extortionate never again appalling
