The Stables is well located in a beautiful part of the Peak district. We spent two days walking and didn’t need to use the car. The property is big and spacious and easily accommodated four adults. It was clean - I don’t think I’ve ever stayed anywhere so spotless! We would definitely use it again.

I couldn't fault our trip - it was simply wonderful from start to finish. We had booked a king room which was amazing, so spacious, clean and modern. Topped off by a beautiful mountain view. The surrounding area had lovely walks with scenery for miles! The Blind Bull staff were all so friendly and welcoming, taking a genuine interest in your stay. There were so many small touches which made the stay feel extra special! The food was exceptional - everything tasted so good so I would definitely recommend booking an evening dinner in the restaurant.

Loved our stay here. The hotel is clean and comfortable with added touches like free hot drinks and cake in the afternoons. The food was good and breakfast buffet was outstanding. It’s a great location from which to explore the Peak District. We chose it because it is dog welcoming and it was excellent in this regard, especially with the dog washing facility to clean up muddy paws after a long walk. Staff were lovely too. Highly recommended, for dog owners especially, but for anyone really. We enjoyed our stay so much we are planning a visit to their other hotel in Scarborough.

A fantastic place to stay after a long 32km hike. Comfortable beds in our twin room, great dinner at the pub and an enjoyable coffee and breakfast in the tea room, the following morning. The mint chocolate tiffin was also a winner!

The train is very convenient, and the Old Nags Head pub is worth a visit. There really is very little else to the town. I recommend a stay in Castleton instead. Just be aware that there are no trains to Castleton and bus service stops before 6pm.

This was a February trip so the weather was often wet but there are plenty of other things to do besides walking. One minor disadvantage is the lack of a bus service in the village (we were using public transport), but trains are generally reliable from the local station and other places accessible from Hope or Hathersage. Visitor Centre was closed during February half-term - a shame as it could have been useful. Great atmosphere in this village, by day and by night. Wonderful walking

    Poor Wi-Fi connection.

Poor Wi-Fi connection. When I stayed in different accommodation previously I experienced the same issue. A lovely cafe next to the train station. If it wasn’t for the length of stay I would have explored other places to eat outside Edale. Be aware that poor signal may affect your ability to park in some car parks in the area. I would advise bringing plenty of change with you.

Fabulous welcome. The staff are so lovely, so welcoming and warm. The room was spotlessly clean. Slightly dated furniture but clearly recently redecorated. Bed was extremely comfortable and lovely well ironed high quality bedding. The thick curtains meant it was gorgeously dark in the room with no morning light to disturb me. Decent pub food in the evening. Lovely homemade jam at breakfast and delicious eggs and bacon.
