Has a nice period 'feel'. Lots of one-off shops and very few national chain stores. Quite hilly, which could be challenging in slippery conditions. The promenade provides an excellent, uncluttered walk along the marshy coastline, particularly in good weather. Lots of great, family-run restaurants and 'eating pubs'. Description of room when booking was not reflective of the reality, garden view turned out to be a brick wall. Customer service was poor. Given false information re restaurant (told closed when still open for another hour). Deputy manager promised to get back to us with answers to our complaints, never did. Told manager would contact us, also to discuss complaints, and she hasn’t. Only after several attempts to contact the manager did we get told by receptionist to contact booking.com (not easy). The people at Grange over Sands appear to make an effort to keep the town clean and tidy. It has a lovely park and flower displays in various locations. The people also seem very friendly. The promenade was flat with views over the bay. Surprised to find the old lido at the end, art deco masterpiece being renovated. Impressive station building and lots of§ history. A lovely quaint little town and good for lovers of horticulture, nature and birds. Dog friendly and lots of small traditional shops and cafes. Walking along the promenade is quiet, more of a nature spotting walk and history lesson than a beach trip, but you can drive to the lakes for some nice clean places to walk and paddle. 20 mins drive to Windermere or Coniston water. Lots of churches I noticed? Lots of nice restaurants and cafes you could drive to, more than you could visit in a week I think, having come from Scotland there really are a lot! Breakfast offered us a range of dishes all freshly prepared. We were also able to have breakfast in our room at no extra cost. The hotel is ideally situated near the local bistros and shops. Our room was very clean and the towels arranged like swans with rose petals on the bed was a lovely surprise. We would definitely stay at the Grange Boutique again.
