Holyhead itself isn't a great place.
Holyhead itself isn't a great place. Lots of empty and scruffy building in the town centre, although the harbour area out the other side is nice with the maritime museum. The only real highlight of the town centre are the remains of the Roman fort. The surrounding area including Treaddur Bay is much better for a visit. There isn't a huge amount to do in Holyhead itself.
There isn't a huge amount to do in Holyhead itself. A few nice walks around the coast. I don't have a car so next time I would stay closer inland in Anglesey to take advantage of more activities and places to see. I ended up taking a train to Bangor for a day. Great place with so much to do, give it a go.. beautiful beaches, Newborough was amazing, we walked holyhead mountain, a fabulous circular walk, we also visited Parys mountain... well worth a trip.. we ate at oceans edge restaurant, amazing food and drink, great service too.Guest review byJohnUnited Kingdom

They offered plates, cutlery, etc., and they couldn't have been more helpful. There was also several other takeaway nearby, Chinese, Indian, etc. it was the nearest hotel to the ferry port being just across the road. We had no idea we were about to stay at a house of someone with such a great energy and lovely spirit. Kay really helped us when we needed to postpone our ferry and let us stay at hers for another night. Her breakfast buffet is immense and we were nibbling on it throughout the whole day.
