We have been to Ilkley previously, so were already enamoured of the town. The park beside the River Calder offers plenty of space for families, and a very good and popular children's playground. There are riverside walks of varying lengths, a picturesque old bridge (now pedestrian-only), and longer walks through woodland and a community orchard. Dog walkers love it, and there are many bins on the south side of the river for use by responsible dog owners. The town itself is a little gem, with a good range of shops, cafes and restaurants, a small but lively market, a bandstand featuring music on market days, an ancient church and Manor House (now a museum) a railway terminus with frequent trains to Leeds, and a backdrop of the towerinf hillside of Ilkley Moor to challenge walkers for whom the riverside is too tame! There is a regular programme of events, a cinema and a theatre, plus it's within a short distance of other attractive towns and venues. Something for everyone, in fact.

Ilkley is a friendly town with nature on its doorstep. Good restaurants and cafes, nice shops, a theatre, lovely park and riverside walk. Many attractions nearby. You can spend a full day on Ilkley Moor exploring stone age carvings and enjoying flora and fauna. If I could afford it I would retire here. One of the best places to be in Yorkshire (and I'm from Lancashire so that says something!).

Ilkley is a fairly affluent town compared to some places we have visited. There is a good variety of shops and pubs and restaurants. We ate at the Wheatley Arms and the Cow and Calf Inn. Both are slightly out of town but great food and a warm welcome at both. We sampled two pubs in town, the Flying Duck and another in the corner of the square with lovely outdoor seating. (Sorry can’t remember the name). There are lots of great scenic walks in the area, both on the moor and along the river. The Riverside Arms was very good too for both food and real ale.

I have lived and worked in Ilkley many years ago and I think it is brilliant. A lovely town with something for everyone and a great hub to the dales and other surrounding towns and cities. The scenery is stunning lots of walks from the town centre. We enjoyed the Playhouse just a 5 minute walk from the Crescent as is the Kings Hall and Winter Gardens. Lots of shops and many excellent coffee shops, bars and eateries. Just great.

Not just a pub with rooms. Feels like a hotel with a good bar a restaurant and outdoor area. Staff were excellent and very friendly and welcoming. Location is good for Ilkley. Some good little touches in room like snacks, water, fresh milk and decent toiletries.

A traditional feel to the hotel with sign of renovation is recent years. Receptionist was very welcoming. Parts of hotel are dated but the room was large, clean and comfortable with a view over Ilkley and the Dales.

The only problem was the lack of parking - an Ilkley thing rather than a hotel thing maybe - compounded by some road works - also no fault of theirs!

A good hotel in an excellent location. Near the river with good views of the Moor. Shame we were short of time. But that does mean we will be back.
