Broughton House, Kirkcudbright Art Gallery and Jessie King's Garden in Greengate Close (tucked away off the High Street) are all delightful places to visit for art lovers! A charming town with pretty houses and fascinating buildings, such as the Tolbooth, set on the attractive River Dee estuary, near picturesque countryside.

Fabulous wee place, beautiful seafood, lovely arty shops and galleries. Easy to walk around. Very friendly people. Lots to see. Highly recommend the Swally n’ Scran restaurant & Skippers Scran Van. Galleries great and nice wee shops. Enjoyed visit to Dundrennan Abbey and amazing views from top of Barstobrick Hill. Will go back for Broughton House & Gardens.

We stayed in room 4 at the front of the hotel.

We stayed in room 4 at the front of the hotel. The setup of the room was excellent, you get basically a double room, one half was the bed and on-suite the other half was the lounge eating area. Both areas were a fair size as well. There were plenty of sockets, good lighting, a full sized fridge, tea/ coffee facilities, with a good selection of Teas and coffee 2 TV's, thick curtains and the rooms were lovely and warm// The staff were very friendly and did their best to ensure you had a great stay, Everything was lovely and clean and considering your room is right over the pub, you were not disturbed by any noise. the bed was clean and comfortable. Like a lot of independent hotels it could do with a little updating and careful thought to certain things , such as the furniture in the bathroom eventually reacts with the moist atmosphere and that shows around the edges. the very large shower tray should either be ceramic or better supported underneath to stop any movement. Hot food was available if booked but we wanted to experience eating out in the town. Because it was a big event parking was a little bit of a problem but if you persevere you will get a good secure spot.

The town itsel was semi coastal, and certainly worth a stop for a day or two, but be wary of pricing rip-offs in Hotels, and Accomodation rentals in general which should be verified by a trustworthy source before booking, or use well known Motels etc.

We loved just wandering around the town.

We loved just wandering around the town. I can recommend Millars L’atelier Du Vin. It was a lovely place to spend a couple of hours. Skippers Scran fish van on the harbour served the best scallop and chips.

Great spot and perfect setting for the historic romance of Kirkcudbright. The stairs weren't easy with a heavy case but once in the nook, you had space, beautifully presented, views and every amenity you could imagine, then more. Minor query was immediately resolved and even the neighbours are lovely. My relos, who live locally, were most impressed and will recommend this place over the hotels they usually suggest.

Small traditional hotel. Room was basic but clean, spacious and comfortable. Excellent bed, kettle and smart tv. Bathroom was old style but very clean with plenty of hot water. We had a great meal in the restaurant and the staff were very friendly and professional - a lovely base to explore this beautiful area.

The breakfast was excellent and offered several choices and used high quality local produces . The location in a quiet picturesque street close to the harbour and town centre of Kirkudbright is very good and offers both an hotel car park plus ample on street parking with no restrictions.

I thought the place was derelict when I arrived, the outside of the place needs painted, did not look inviting at all. The rooms were clean and tidy. It is centrally located in Kirkcudbright, close to all amenities.
