Facilities not as advertised, breakfast not available, no hair dryer or mirror in room. Kettle available but would not fit under the tap,.This room was worth £50 to £60 , unfortunately was priced at £95, rooms advertised from £50 which was what our room was worth. Would not recommend. Nice bar staff only good thing.

Although extremely busy at weekends, the lake is a lovely sight with boats and pedalos and surrounded by low lying wooded hills. It's a gentle 2 and a half mile walk around it with a cafe half way. There are a number of eating places on the main street catering for most tastes. Car parking is centrally placed. Definitely a place to visit mid week.

    Littleborough is a gem.

Littleborough is a gem. It is a lovely village, close to Rochdale but totally different. It has a community feel and is well-kept. There are a lot of tea-rooms, restaurants and pubs, more than one would expect in a small Pennine village. After leaving the village you are immediately on the moors where there are many hiking and walking trails. The people in the village are incredibly friendly and you are always greeted with a smile. A relaxed village feel while being close to a large town and a big city.

We loved looking out at the lake felt like a holiday place.

We loved looking out at the lake felt like a holiday place. Plenty of places to eat out. Nice touch from owner to leave voucher for free drinks in the cafe. It was good to have 2 televisions. Lots of steps for us but we were warned. We really enjoyed our stay. The problems were the shower controls and hard work lighting the hob. It was very well equipped with all you need for your stay. Also nice and warm. Needs better seating in living area. Would still recommend to others.

Littleborough is a small but lovely location in the countryside, but still not too far from the city. Car is necessary although trams/trains running often nearby instead of driving into Manchester for shopping.

I stayed for one night whilst walking on the Pennine Way - that, or a couple of nights, are probably long enough. There are water sports facilities on the lake and a few lakeside cafes and pubs. For those with a dog (me) neither of the pubs indicated if they were dog friendly or not - and I didnt feel like being turned away - so didnt go in. The lakeside is a pleasant walk - but the roadway can be seen as a bit of a race track, especially in the evenings, by bikers and boy racers. If your on public transport, the lakeline bus runs up and down every 30 mins (probably less on Sundays) and the lake is a short walk up from Smithy Bridge station. I didnt eat there, but the Olive and Pickles cafe has tables out front in the day time and looks like a pleasant place for to eat - its closed in the evenings.
