FAQs about hotels in Llandudno

Victorian Resort with a Welsh Twist

The most popular Wales seaside resort, Llandudno covers a peninsula with 2 sandy coastlines. The North Shore’s wide Victorian promenade is lined with period buildings which now house seafront hotels and guest houses. The beach itself stretches all the way between the Little Orme and Great Orme headlands, passing an outdoor swimming pool.

A historic tram climbs to the peak of Great Orme, where Bronze Age copper mines can be visited. The top is also reachable by cable car from Happy Valley, a recreation area with gardens and an artificial ski slope.

A road runs around the base of the headland passing the historic Grand Hotel, a property available on Booking.com and overlooking the Grade II-listed pier – the longest in Wales. The West Shore is much less developed and the Maesdu Golf Course forms most of its shoreline.

Of course, Llandudno has its fair share of traditional seaside pursuits such as donkey rides and fish and chip shops.

The town also has a modern retail park near the train station and Venue Cymru event centre, and wrought-iron canopies shade smaller shops along Mostyn Avenue, Broadway and Street. The latter - Mostyn Street - is effectively the high street and becomes brightly decorated during the Victorian carnival in May.

Llandudno is a lovely, traditional Victorian seaside resort, complete with original pier. It is easy to get around the town on foot, with many shopping arcades to suit all tastes. There are various museums and art galleries, plus the Venue Cymru theatre. You can go up the Great Orme by Tram or Cable Car [weather permitting!], where you will find the Copper Mines, Ski-Slope, Toboggan-ride and Crazy Golf. There are also various bus tours available, including the Hop-on, Hop-off bus, and also a little train which takes you around Marine Drive. Our favourite restaurant [of which there are many] was La Taverna Italian Restaurant.

Plenty of things/activities to do, lots of choice of food eating places and agood variety of shops. Loved the promenade to walk on and being next to the sea. Attractive sea front and bay. Wildwood Italian restaurant was excellent. Really enjoyed theTram ride up and down the Orme and little train journey round the Orme. Previously have gone on the City bus tour around Llandudno which was great. We found the WW2 museum fascinating and very interesting.

As a lone female traveller, i found plenty to do. Shops, cafes, a walk down the prom. I enjoyed a trip up the great orme & early eve stroll on the pier, chips on the prom. Lots to see, stunning views & walks, some wonderful photo opportunities & friendly people. i would stay an extra night next time to soak everything up at a slower pace, as some things i didn't have time to do. I will visit the west shore beach next time.

We are walkers and enjoyed exploring different areas from the hotel. Easy to get around. We didn't use public transport, but noted that the buses ran fairly frequently. Would have liked more smaller coffee shops, and upmarket restaurants as the hotel we stayed at did not serve dinner, Lovely meal at The Imperial one evening, but then they were full and couldn't take non-residents. Nice meal and atmosphere at Wild Wood (bit noisy, but lively and friendly). Nice meal in cafe on edge of Penrhyn Bay after a walk on Little Orme. Lovely area for walking and found the Aber Falls at Abergwyngregyn. Lovely drive over the Sychnant Pass

Lovely town in a beautiful spot. Vibrant and welcoming.

Lovely town in a beautiful spot. Vibrant and welcoming. Lots to do and close to some of the most beautiful countryside in the UK. Fantastic place with some awesome restaurants and clean air. We ate at Abode which was fantastic. Take the tramway up great orme for some wonderful views. Take your time to still along the promenade and pier. Oh, and hope for good weather. Lots of nice shops to dive into. It's unusual to find somewhere that still has a thriving high street.
