On a busy main route to/from Scotland, Longtown would be a good stopover. Beautiful Cumbrian countryside on its doorstep. Nice walk around the Longtown ponds or along the river. Not much choice for evening meal, but the Graham Arms serves good food at a reasonable price.

It's a quiet base handy for going out and about we visited hadrian's wall, Aria falls in the lake district and shopping trips to Carlisle and Gretna. Easy access to Dumfries too we just didn't go. Not too much in Longtown it's self, that we saw.

We only stayed overnight as we were attending a wedding, but what we saw of Longtown looked fine to us. Enough shops for necessities and the fuel at the petrol station is much cheaper than at home, which is a pleasant surprise

Longtown was quite a nice town with a couple of pubs and a cafe plus everything else you would need. The chip shop and cafe shut to early though in my opinion. Liked walking down by the River Esk on the mornings and evenings when the weather was dry

    Nice quiet village.

Nice quiet village. We stayed at the camelot caravan park and decided on longtown as its in easy reach for various day trips. The Greyson arms pub is very welcoming and friendly and accept dogs (with free treats for our dog as soon as we arrived) food was delicious here too. The esk chippy and spice fusion was good but the classic pizza shop wasn't that great (chips were undercooked, garlic bread was like cardboard). Overall, longtown has everything you need for a few days stay including a spar and petrol station but we used the area as a base to explore Hadrians wall, west coast of Scotland (Gretna, powfoot) and Carlisle.

Everything about this house was perfect. So many little touches that made the stay that little bit more memorable. Contact with the hosts was quick and easy. The Prosecco, milk, orange juice, bread and butter left in the fridge, and Granola, rice and spaghetti in the jars was so thoughtful. Parking was easy - right outside the front door. Everything was clean and tidy, and there was lots of information to hand on the local area. We will certainly look to stay again should we ever again be travelling to Longtown.

The staff were friendly, the room was spacious ,clean and the bed was very comfortable. The toiletries were amazing, smelt just like Moulton Brown products. We ate our evening meal at the hotel, the drinks were very reasonable and the food was fabulous and good value. The waitress was young, very friendly and very attentive. Even though our room was at the front of the hotel we were not disturbed by traffic noise. Breakfast was delicious. We had a lovely walk along the river and back via the cattle route.

It is a very small village, but had lots of little shops and a lovely Dog friendly pub and it has No restricted parking in Longtown which is great and it is free. What a Bonus.
