I was there October 14th-17th but the weather was kind as it is late season of course so it was nice to have this short break as a preparation for the oncoming gloom of winter. There are plenty of places to eat and a good variety of pubs for entertainment in the evenings,

Southport is like most old seaside towns.

Southport is like most old seaside towns. Best to go in the summer. Lord street used to be a Beautiful street for shopping. Unfortunately like everywhere shops have closed. There are plenty of good cafes and places to eat. We ate at Au Berge and had a lovely meal.

If you like walking, Southport is a feast for your feet!

If you like walking, Southport is a feast for your feet! Lots to do for all ages and interests. Theatre, cinema, shops, proper shopping centre and the more quaint diverse shops. Sea front is wonderful for kids and plenty of parks to just roam in. If you walk west a bit, there's a fabulous little train track for little and big kids (think adults). Only a short ride but stacks of fun. If you like social history too, just stop and look at the wonderful architecture and old big houses that shout of more wealthy times when Liverpool industrialists had their summer homes here. I went round the museum and the kids were loving it. Not an expensive place to visit...a little goldmine of charm for all ages!

We’d come for the Firework Festival before and it was sad to see quite a few boarded shops and pubs that had been open on previous occasions The pier being closed is a great disappointment But Wheatherspoons is still amazing value for food and drinks👌 The Lakeside is lovely and the Marina Plus right by the Waterfront Hotel the little area where they usually have a singer at this time of year was a disappointment also as it wasn’t on Saturday 27th and closed before 6pm on 28th I would only come when the Firework Festival is on.

Southport is a lovely place to visit or even live, as I once did many years ago. However, it unfortunately now has a myriad of empty properties and even shops on what was once THE place LORD Street ; so called homeless people , all drinking and sleeping in shop doorways,

I can't tell you much as I was using Southport as a base to visit Nature Reserves in the area. The holiday season was over but it was still quite busy. There area has a diverse selection of Pubs, Restaurants, Cafe's, Shops etc., to cater for all tastes and budgets. "Lord Street is the main shopping street of Southport, in Merseyside. It is 1 mile (1.6 km) long, with a roundabout marking each end of the street. There are many water features, gardens and architectural buildings along the entire street, with a mix of residential, commercial and public buildings. It was laid out in the early 19th century". The location is very good. It is within easy walking distance to the center of Southport. All the staff were very friendly and very helpful. The hotel is on the Marina which is so beautiful and is teeming with bird life, however the function rooms that face directly onto the Marina along with a beautiful terrace were closed - which was a shame as the views across the Marina of the bird life and the sunsets is truly spectacular.
