FAQs about hotels in Budapest

A City of Two Halves

With a dome reminiscent of Brunelleschi’s "The Duomo" in Florence, the Hungarian parliament building is undoubtedly the icon of Budapest. It sits majestically by the Danube, the river that both divides and unifies the 2 parts of this capital city: Buda and Pest.

Overseeing Budapest from its vantage point on Castle Hill is Buda Castle. Spectacularly lit at night, it has the best views across this attractive city steeped in World Heritage. Some unique points of interest are Heroes Square and the Museum of Terror, reminders of the city’s more turbulent past.

Much like in Vienna further up the Danube, coffee and cake is practically an institution in Budapest. And there’s nowhere better to try them than Gerbeaud - the elaborate décor alone makes this café well worth a visit.

To really feel like a local, make a trip to the thermal baths. The relaxed Gellért Baths are a triumph of Art Nouveau grandeur and, based on their sheer size, you can't miss the outdoor Széchenyi Baths. If unusual nightlife is your thing, the club nights at these baths are great fun.

With an impressive range of Budapest hotels, apartments and hostels available in this city of 2 halves, Booking.com makes it an easy choice.

For a weekend or long weekend Budapest is a beautiful, safe...

For a weekend or long weekend Budapest is a beautiful, safe and relaxed city to visit. Its a place for locals by locals and you can see the community unity and national pride in how the local interact and care for what is their home. Everyone speaks English, most signs and menus etc are in English. They are very welcoming but are not tolerant of boisterous nonsense. They don't and you won't be doing that. Airport - Right outside the exit door is the regular (every few minutes) E100 bus - tap on with your debit/credit card or buy a ticket from the ample number of English speaking staff or ticket machines. Next (and only) stop - the city centre. How easy is that? Whilst Budapest has activities its lends itself to relaxing. Walking around the main features, bridges, buildings and resturant/shopping areas. Forget about racing from one expensive thing to the next must be done hot spot - Budapest isn't that kind of town. It's an easily walkable city, relax, stroll about, enjoy. Rent a cheap eletric scooter for use on the extensive cycle paths if walking a few miles isn't your thing. Public transport is also cheap, clean, safe, sometimes crowded but extensive. Even very late at night it's safe, in the 2020's very few big western cities can claim that honor. It's regarded as a modestly priced but quality destination as it is.

Budapest has many easy to access sites, albeit the museums charge so you might want to get a Budapest Go City Card (online and at stalls). Always felt safe, lots of English and for some reason spanish spoken. Uber and Bolt work very well and the airport was easy to get through. Prices are the same as in UK (cheaper no doubt, outside of the tourist areas)

It is a very beautiful town which has rich history and is well preserved. The river cruise was great. All the monuments are worth visiting. The shopping street is very nice and is all pedestrian walking with lots of great restaurants. This is very economical city to stay. I would like to come here again.

A beautiful city with lots to see and places to visit.

A beautiful city with lots to see and places to visit. Safe walking in the streets even on the large avenues, drivers are very careful with the pedestrians. Public transport not very easy to use. It's a walkable city and taxis are not expensive for longer distances. A Danube night cruise is definitely a must!!! Remember lights on buldings go off at 10:30pm. Parliament in the night is magical. Buda site also a must and do get the small hop on hop off blue bus. It takes you to all sights and you do't miss a thing.

Budapest is a wonderful city, lots of things to do and attractions - Parliament Building, Buda Castle, St Stephen Basilica, thermal baths. and the excellent New Your cafe. We did a short weekend trip to Budapest from Dubai, it was a great break. The city has a well-planned public transportation system, although one sometimes has to walk a distance to get the next connection, so it's not on par with Western European countries, but is also much much cheaper. Excellent food.

We are a couple from Noway that stayed from thu-mon. Very nice hotel. Must be a pretty new hotell. Very good breakfast. Location is good and central close to the Opera wich is nice to use as a reference point. Metro to Széchenyi bath is close. Just use the opera station. Not far to walk down to city centre. Or use a kickbike. If we go back to Budapest we would probably use this hotel again.

Cheap accommodation in Budapest, 10-20 minutes walk to the city centre. The hostel is at the main noisy street, but the hostel is actually in an inner courtyard, so there is no noise from the street. Staff is nice and helpful, speaks fluent English. Definitely worth the money.
