The Karatu Homestay is a simple yet outstanding accommodation option in Siau, offering excellent value for money. The rooms are clean and equipped with a traditional Indonesian shower/toilet combination, as well as air conditioning, which is highly appreciated. Breakfast is included and, considering the price, more than satisfactory. Mosquito nets are provided, though mosquitoes are generally rare in the area. Guests can also enjoy a common lounge area with a balcony, where one can relax, watch TV, or play the guitar. The Wi-Fi connection worked flawlessly throughout my stay. The location is ideal—only a 10-minute walk from the ferry harbor. Shops are located right next to the homestay, and supermarkets are also within a 10-minute walk. The homestay and its guide, Dominic, can arrange scooter rentals (100k per day) and organize various tours, including excursions to the volcano, wildlife trips, and snorkeling adventures. I highly recommend this homestay, especially given its exceptional price-to-quality ratio.
