    Because of the two gondolas accessible in town, we were able to explore both sides and experience a variety of terrain, none extremely challenging which worked for our various fitness levels. The views are stupendous and the convenience of the huts along the trails for lunch, a drink or even a break from the rain were fantastic. We didn't need to worry about packing snacks or lunches, and instead enjoyed reasonably priced, delicious meals along our hikes.

    A lovely town in the valley with plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants but also gave easy access up into the mountains via cable car/funicular. Also easy to get the bus to St Christina and Selva for other cables cars and walks. The Val Gardena mountains are simply stunning with plenty of great walking accessible from Ortesei

    There is something for everyone in Ortesei and it is a special family destination as well. We loved the summer climate, the cool crisp air, and the beauty of the amazing Dolomites. The restaurants were great, there was ample shopping, and the locals were warm, friendly and helpful. We did not have a car, but did not need one with the free bus system that was very efficient. The gondolas, funicular annd chair lifts took us to some great spots for hiking and the ambience in the Refugios was great!

    Delightful small town with lots of ways to access hiking...

    Delightful small town with lots of ways to access hiking trails / ski areas. Maybe a little less convenient to mountain bikers, but superb for everyone else. St Christina and 1-2 villages upstream may be better suited to serious bikers. Ortisei is a great gateway to the spectacular Dolomite recreational areas.

    I say better than Cortina d’ Ampezzo as a base for hiking. More trailheads closeby. The town itself is more lively and the restaurant options are many. The public transport is also more efficient even if it was still off season.

    Ortisei is the perfect base spot for hiking in the Dolomites! So many options for hikes, 2 gondolas within walking distance for amazing views and a picturesque village for dining, shopping. The hike at Alpe di Suisse (alpine meadow) was amazing. We also visited Lago di Braies which was a beautiful 2 hour walk around the most gorgeous lake. We loved the Cafe Adler and Cafe Stetteneck for coffee and pastries in the morning. Turonda for dinner. The downtown shops are cute for gifts or essentials. We used the supermarket in downtown for meal ingredients a couple of nights and it was perfect!

    We had an amazing stay at Hotel Ronce. The room was large with a nice balcony, big clean bathroom and a very comfortable bed. The staff were so friendly and we had several lovely nights at the bar for dinner. We also thoroughly enjoyed the wellness centre - a lovely way to warm up after hiking in the snow! The staff even gave us a bottle of wine to help us celebrate our engagement! We will be sure to return if we come back to Ortisei.

    Hotel located halfway up the mountain in Ortisei, the hotel is accessible by Bus 355, which runs once per hour. It has a fantastic view.The hostess is very nice, and the rooms are clean and tidy. The breakfast is delicious and plentiful. Would definitely choose Garni Halali Hotel again for my next stay

    Everything thing is perfect on this hotel. Starting from the location, behaviour of stuff, breakfast, cleanliness of room, comfort - everything exceptional. Hotel is just 4-5 minutes walking distance of the Ortisei main bus stop. Seceda and Alpe Di siusi cable car is just 5-6 minutes walking distance.
