Only spent one day at the end of our trip which was enough to basically shop and wander the historical area which I think is the main attraction anyway. Beautiful, scenic, clean, historic. And we loved Yoshii Ryokan in the heart of it all. Definitely worth a visit.

Beautfiul. A glimpse of times gone by. Old buildings, quiet streets lit by lanterns at night. Very good restaurants. The canal was lovely to look at. Very good shops, all generally selling products of high quality.

We timed our trip to co inside with the festival of lights and so pleased we got to experience the first night of the light festival before we moved on. Absolutely beautiful in the bikan historic district wandering along the canals with so much to see. Easy city to navigate with lots of great eateries.

Kurashiki is a beautiful, well preserved old town, much like Kyoto but without the crowds of tourists. The Folk Art Museum and the Kyosai Museum are particular highlights. If you're interested in Japanese history and culture, and don't want to be swamped with other tourists, I can't recommend Kurashiki enough.

Kurashiki is a great town, especially the old quarter. We stayed several nights but also did day trips from our accommodation. It was great to come back to Kurashiki at the end of the day. There is a train station right there to do day trips, a great shopping mall, as well as the stores in the old town.

    We loved Kurashiki.

We loved Kurashiki. The historical quarter is so pretty with the gorgeous canal and its boats, along with the streets of former rice storehouses. The old town is quick and easy to navigate and there is so much to do! We also loved exploring the shops and enjoyed a delicious meal of Bukkake udon, a local specialty. Would highly recommend a visit here. Note: The Momotaru “Peach Boy” Folk Museum was great for our 10 year old daughter and fun for us too!!

Location is great, 7 minutes walking from the Kurashiki station, 10-15 minutes walk to Kurasiki "old area" and Ohara museum. Probably, the best hotel breakfast that we got in Japan - and most of them were good, so this one was a level up; good choice; individually served on small plates items make breakfast fun and quick process. And did I mention great staff (and free sake) at the reception? As everywhere else in Japan, extremely clean hotel .

The hotel is right next to Kurashiki most iconic area. In fact, it is part of it. The hotel has some historical taste but interior is very new. We booked a family room, cost was roughly the same as two regular room, experience was definitely more than double. The public bath also add on the already lovely experience

Amazing location right next to the Kurashiki historical bikan quarter. The hotel is clearly a bit dated, however it is very well kept. The bathroom was really nice and so far this has been the biggest hotel room I have had in Japan.

New hotel, pleasingly easy to find, straight up the road from the station and easy to get to Bikan area and all museums. Huge rooms by Japanese standards, I was very impressed, usually you can't swing a hamster, never mind a cat !

Great location, right next to Kurashiki's beautiful old district. The hotel is fairly standard but comfortable, easy check in process, friendly staff, lots of great restaurants nearby.
