Shiro and Claire are super friendly and made us feel at home. It was a privilege to stay at their 1910 built Japanese traditional farmer’s house that gave us a great experience of Japanese country living.

Because a typhoon wiped out some train tracks, this place is hard to get to. But WOW. Eat like royalty, soak in a hot spring, take a glorious hike, and repeat. Phenomenal.

His kindness, generosity, and hospitality go far beyond anything we’ve ever experienced. Every dish was a masterpiece, prepared with love and presented with joy. We felt so welcomed and cared for from the very first moment. The service, the atmosphere, the whole experience – just WOW! There was absolutely nothing missing. A house with a fantastic atmosphere, lots of space, comfortable furniture and very good bathroom and kitchen facilities. Aircon in all rooms and the pictures gives an accurate impression of the place. The garden is small but charming and offers enough space for outdoor relaxation. The services offered and the communication with the owner was outstanding and based on our needs, helping out with everything from local taxi to bike rental.

Amazing location next to the river in a tea plantation. The house was wonderfully peaceful and very well appointed.

The staff was very friendly and everything was very clean. The onsen had various types of baths, including a large outdoor bath. There was also a restaurant, thought closed during our stay, and a nice relax area with free massage chairs, games and books/manga to enjoy. The house was beautiful with a very nice interior. We loved the tableware. Also, the hotplate was very useful. This area is quite remote and far from the highway. Therefore, it is quiet and peaceful with nice scenic spots. Still, if you are visiting from another prefecture, we recommend at least two nights in a row to fully enjoy your stay. Check-in at 3 pm and Check-out at 10 am can be challenging, especially when you are traveling with kids and during winter season, when the sun sets early.
