Everything about this property was extremely exceptional, the greeting of the owner who spoke enough English to get by, it was the largest room in Japan we have come across, everything was provided , and we have been travelling for 3 weeks and the bed and pillows were like Heaven after so many hotel beds, have never experienced any bed or pillows like this. So thank you for the most wonderful stay. ❤️

Huge room. Beautiful decor. The atmosphere. It's situated in the forest so it's very peaceful and quiet. Extremely yummy food. You will get to use the private bath for free per day of your stay. Beautiful selection of yutaka also free to choose. Staffs are all very friendly and can speak English fairly well.

Such a cute town with a ton of character and really exceptional local businesses. Even though it’s rural we had very upscale experiences at a local bar (Bar Stir) and sake tasting room with a foot bath inside!! I would have loved to stay longer!

Morning walk along the waterway when there were not many tourists was peaceful and enjoyable. The are lots of small shops on the main street, but might be too crowded to enjoy. The shops close around 5pm. My favorite eating place was Pizzeria Kunugi no Oka; good food and good view of the Yufu city.

A fabulous place to chill and relax. Restaurants are great. Shopping is fun. You get to enjoy nature anywhere you go. But for drivers who are not used to narrow and winding roads, you need to be extra careful

We went to Yufuin and Beppu, Yufuin by the touristy train (...

We went to Yufuin and Beppu, Yufuin by the touristy train (book a month earlier and reserve your seats!), then we took the bus from Yufuin to Beppu and did the onsen tours on our own by bus. Not much to do in Beppu other than the onsens, perhaps go to other nearby places too.

Excellent location.

Excellent location. Not far from Fukuoka and we drive all the way from the airport within 2 hours. Best retreat so far and we will definitely go back in different seasons. Driving to places are simple and easy. Can go to mountain hike or the lake areas.

A very lovely town.

A very lovely town. But too many tourists during the weekend. Too many Korean tourists, which quite some of them are lack of manners, speaking too too loudly, taking pictures everywhere, dominating the roads while walking with groups...

We loved everything about this ryokan. It was like a pleasant respite from the busy tourist streets of Yufuin. It wasn't difficult to get there from the station at all, but still felt secluded; which was nice. The breakfast one of the best meals of our trip. The inn cats were absolutely lovely, and the staff were so kind, considerate, helpful, and attentive. The private onsen were not nearly as crowded as I thought they'd be, and we loved using them. I only wish we had spent more time here. I will definitely be back!

It's absolutely amazing. Clean and spacious. The private family onsen is a bonus. Staff are friendly. Breakfast is simple but certainly sufficient. Carpark is opposite the building. It's not a busy road. However, if you have big and heavy luggage, it may be a little troublesome as there is totally no space in front of the hotel to stop the car. But this is just a small issue for us. Enjoyed our stay very much.

Stayed here with my partner and had an amazing time! The place was super clean, spacious, and peaceful. The private onsen was so relaxing and really made the trip. Great location—close to shops and sights. A perfect spot to enjoy the charm of Yufuin and experience a bit of traditional Japan.

Yufuin Rakuyu was a lovely traditional style ryokan with private onsen in the rooms. It was an out of the way property at the base of a mountain. We had a traditional Japanese dinner and breakfast whilst we were there. The staff were extremely friendly and keen to please.
