Fantastic hotel from the moment we checked-in until check-out! Staff really was there to help when needed and swimming pool was amazing! A little bit overvalued in terms of pricing in my opinion for Sri Lanka but overall it was a super nice stay and we enjoyed it. Breakfast was delicious and a lot to choose from!

I recently stayed at Swell Shacks for one night and had an amazing experience. The hotel was exceptionally clean and well-maintained. The design of the hotel is simply stunning and perfectly complements the beautiful environment. I loved waking up to the sound of the ocean and having the beach right in front of our room. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring a restful night's sleep. The breakfast provided was delicious and offered a variety of options. The view from the hotel is absolutely stunning, offering breathtaking sights. I had such a wonderful time that I will definitely be coming back in the future. I highly recommend Swell Shacks for anyone looking for a memorable and enjoyable stay. Special mention for Gayantha and Madushanka, always smiling, very welcoming and helpful, they definitely make our stay even better 😃 !

Beautiful facilities, very peaceful and tranquil with a lovely garden, fantastic outdoor showers in the rooms, and smells beautifully of incense. Wonderful staff who were very friendly and were very accommodating.

Great breakfast everyday, comfortable rooms with good A/C and fan. On a quiet road so no traffic noise. The accommodation only has three rooms so it is not overcrowded. The staff are friendly and efficient. We used the pool a lot as we preferred this to swimming in the ocean.

I rarely write such long reviews, but this place is truly amazing - it is something between a 5-star hotel and a hip beach community hangout. The location beyond amazing - it is right on the beach and there is a freshwater lagoon right next to the property - you can go paddle-boarding or kayaking in the lagoon if you want, or if you prefer the ocean - go there. Or both. Getting to the hotel is fun - a very narrow road meanders through a lush forest and you think you are going to the end of the world, then you arrive at a stylish hotel with a lush garden right on the beach and a elegant stylish pool in the middle. The pool looks like an architectural accent, but it is actually a pool. The hotel is right on the beach - you can even have a table moved to the sand if you want for breakfast, lunch or dinner - or anytime actually. The food and cocktails at this hotel are like at a 5-star establishment. But the staff is friendlier:-) The menu is traditional Sri Lankan with a twist of different flavors - some European, some Malaysian, a bit of Thai and African. The food is excellent, the fish is locally sourced from the fishermen that are 50 meters away. All of the rooms face the ocean. The options are a room with your own very large balcony facing the ocean, or a ground level room with your own spacious patio facing the ocean. The beach is about a kilometer long - empty, no umbrellas, no vendors, no shacks - just fishermen going about their business. If you feel like talking to them (most barely speak English) you could. If not, just set up camp under the shade of the palm tree and you feel like on a deserted island. Once that gets old you can go back to the hotel - the food, the cocktails and the service put a 5-star establishment to shame! Zander is the most excellent and amazing host ever and has the sweet, friendly dog named Loki, who is a constant source of "cuteness" around. This is a magical place!

Property: Clean cute room with AC, Small but well organized with shelves and hangers. Hang out area with sofas and chairs, overlooking trees Location : Quiet at night, (even the room on the road side) but still short walking distance from the beach and restaurant. On well lit road. Food: Very good breakfast with fresh fruits, smoothie and sri lakan pancakes + toast and avocado Staff: very accommodating and kind

I would like to note the friendliness of the staff and willingness to help. Breakfast is different every day, very tasty and beautiful, every day we were served fruit from their garden! They also have a restaurant, the food is fast, the portions are huge, there is a lot of seafood. With our own eyes near the hotel we saw monkeys, peacocks, lizards and it’s wonderful! In general, we were pleasantly surprised by the service, I highly recommend this hotel to families with children or quiet groups!

Perfect place. The room is big and the room is VERY clean. The bed is big and comfortable. There is also a little refrigerator with is very nice to have to water and more. The A/C works flawlessly. There is a little private place in front of the room where you can sit outside in a small couch and relax. The beach is very close and the place is locatet in a little street, so there is not much street noise. Breakfast is plenty and varied. Service is very good and the host is pleasant and very helpful with everything you need as transportation, good advice and more.
