AustraliaA unique and seriously remote camp located deep in the magnificent mountains of Damaraland. The meeting point at Palmwag lodge and camp is great spot to swim, enjoy a cold drink and nice food and watch the desert elephants walk by. The drive in and out of Etendeka are fantastic environmental and game watching experiences. This is a very special off-grid place that only hosts up to 22 guests. The camp sits amongst a stunning landscape with a canopy of huge sky and uninterrupted starlight. All the activities are awesome, especially the hiking. The staff are wonderful, friendly and mostly local. The food is sensible - delicious, nutritious and properly portioned for minimal waste. Our tent was exactly what we expected, 2 beds with a small table, luggage space and hanging bars. The rustic outdoor bathroom included a bucket shower and surprisingly a flushing toilet! The communal campfire boasts views of the moon rising - we were there during the lunar eclipse. A short hike up the hill behind offered beautiful views of the sunset glow across the land. We have travelled extensively in southern Africa and this place is like no other.
