I went to Amersfoort for some work related trainings and seeing that this was a business trip, unfortunately we had a very limited time to explore the surroundings, however, one of the great advantages of this hotel was that it was exactly in the city center. You cannot be more in the city center than this :). First great impression was from the staff who were really friendly and helpful, always smiling and actually took the time to write "welcome" on my card key holder in my native language! I know it might not feel as much but it's the little things and that attention to details that I really appreciate. The room was cozy and the only things that was missing were a pair of slippers (I forgot to take my own) and the shower gel, but it wasn't a problem because I always bring mine along. To be honest, I think the cleaning staff just forgot to refill it and I could of just asked. Another great thing is that you are 5 min away walking distance from a good supermarket with reasonable prices (Coop) and of course other places like Starbucks, Taco Bell, McDonalds etc. For us it didn't matter because the hotel has a very nice and cozy pub with reasonable prices and good food, also a lot of vegetarian options if you're into that. Even though the pub gets a bit noisy, I hardly heard any noise in my room and was able to sleep very well. Thank you very much for your warm welcome and positive attitude, please never change because this is the main thing that makes this experience special! Hope I will come back soon, this time for a well deserved vacation!

    Amersfoort is a small but very charming city.

    Amersfoort is a small but very charming city. If you are a fan of the painter Mondrian, it is a definite destination, as hi childhood home is now a very interesting museum dedicate to his life and work. That water-castle that always shows up on pictures of the town is somewhat misleading, on the pictures it looks like a castle but it's not very large. The canals are very charming ans you should definitely take one of the canal boat rides. The canal boat and the Mondrian house were the two high points of the visit.

    Amersfoort is a beautiful historic city.

    Amersfoort is a beautiful historic city. Shopping is great, lovely christmas decorations around town and a cute square with cafe's. We enjoyed a lunch at Broei - delicious vegan food. Also went to Petit Marie for dinner, French a la carte menu, absolutely fantastic service and here again delicious food. Getting around Amersfoort is easy, everything is pretty much walking distance.

    Lovely historic Centrum that's well-preserved, easy to explore on foot, and that one can truly absorb in a few days. The surrounding "new town" seems vibrant and nicely laid out, with plenty of areas to explore, walks to take, and things to do that could occupy many more days, with multiple return-visits to the Centrum to gaze at the architecture and eat and shop. Very happy that I took a little time to stop in, and would have loved to make it a base for exploring the surrounding area for an additional week (or more); noting that you can always hop the train for day-trips to surrounding towns. Alas, life was calling, and I had to move on...

    The city center was so cute!

    The city center was so cute! The street by the wall houses is a nice walk to take, so many picturesque houses! It is quite a small city so 1-2 days are enough if you want to take a one day trip here. The square at the Church of our lady was beautiful, and the market on the main square had a lot of fresh produce and an insane amount of cheese to choose from. Also, as in all of the Netherlands, LOVE the second hand shops!

    Amersfoort is underrated in the shadow of Utrecht and Amsterdam. It is a rich town, with very pleasant spaces in a compact downtown. Has all the Dutch necessities, canal, clocktower, fort, painter, city wall, ... less tourists.

    It is a simple but pleasent place to stay. The rooms are small and up the stairs. Don't expect any kind of business-like hotel, but enjoy the cosyness, the friendly staff and the good food and beers in the bar, not to mention the central location. For the price, it is excellent value for the money, and by train you can reach Amsterdam City in less than an hour.
