It was in a quiet street and had very good facilities. It was close to a very good restaurant who were accommodating to our late request for a meal. The apartment had comfortable furniture and the host gave us some provisions and drinks. The chalk board had a welcome message wishing my daughter good luck with her Ironman event

Reggie, the owner, was absolutely fantastic and made us feel extremely at home. He was very helpful at all times, and throughout our 10-day stay was always very responsive and nice. We also loved the room - it was very cosy and cute and exactly what we wanted. The vinyl player in the room and the general vibe of Grapelli was also brilliant.

The room is really nice, beautiful and cozy. It is quite big. The view is also great just next to cannel. Location of the hotel is perfect. Just a few mins work can reach bars and restaurants. The staff are very kind. I had late check in and heavy suitcase. They opened the door for me and carried it for me to my room. Really appreciated. Above all, I really recommand this hotel and will stay again if in Alkmaar.

Super cool accommodation resort. The sauna complex is classy and rustic, with many beautiful designs, like the Birdnest sauna. The hotel room was spacious and comfortable with gorgeous redesigning of the fort building. Quiet & dark in the morning. I guess being a fort helps soundproofing! I slept extremely well. The included buffet breakfast was delicious! Perfect for a couple's retreat.

We booked into this hotel as a place to stay while we found a place to live in the area. I was coming to start a new job in the Netherlands. I cannot say enough about how wonderful Ezra was in every way...he greeted us in the rain after many hours of travel from North America, helped us get settled in, provided us with all kinds of information about local things, and made sure we were booked in for the long haul in case we could not find more permanent accommodations. The others who work there were equally great - always friendly, helpful, and knowledgable. The hotel is great - clean, comfortable, with a very good breakfast - but really, it was the service that impressed us. This was a very nice welcome to the Netherlands, and we highly recommend this hotel.

Great location, bus stop right next to the hotel. You can walk to the city center in 15 minutes. An excellent breakfast where everyone can choose. I also liked the healthier versions of cereal, seeds etc. Free underground parking and also very nice employees.

    You really need a car.

    You really need a car. The Dutch will tell you "go everywhere by bike - we do!" but they're used to the constant wind and rain. It's a "cute" village (650 inhabitants) with very few facilities (so a car needed) and the nearest supermarket is 4 kilometres away. You can't really walk anywhere as the roads are really only meant for bikes, tractors and local's cars - there's no pavement on most of the roads.
