The Casa do Pastana was perfect in every way. I really liked the location as it is central to many places of interest. All the places I visited (photos), are less than 1 hr drive I liked the accommodation as it was spacious, clean and in a quiet location. Perfect for resting after a day out sightseeing. The host Carla is very helpful and answered all my queries promptly. Carla speaks good English, which made it easier for me as I don't speak Portuguese. What I liked most, is that Casa do Pastana has everything to make it feel like home, and everything is in good working order.

The location is absolutely beautiful and the bed is very comfortable! I can recommend to anyone with lower back pain. At the time we was here, it was very private and we had everything we needed! (TV, WiFi, Air Conditioner, dining area inside and outside, relax area outside)

Liz and Jan are the perfect hosts. The guesthouse is along the camino and attracts a lot of walkers. The grounds and outside area are superb and well maintained. A beautiful green oasis cared for with love. Liz and Jan enjoy having guests and know home to make them feel at home. Liz is a wellness expert and also offers delicious and healthy homecooked meals in the evening that you can book in advance when you stay there. We arrived rather late and did not feel like eating a three course meal but I would definitely recommend it otherwise. Liz made us a beautiful veggie (some from the garden!), fruit and snack platter with drinks to enjoy while sitting outside. We had the small double room with shared bathroom which worked out well for us. My daughter enjoyed lounging in the hammock and playing with the cats. Everything is sparkling clean. Downstairs is a huge living room with TV and games for guests to use. There is a dipping pool to cool off. The breakfast next morning was excellent and healthy. Good coffee, tea, smoothie, yogurt with fresh berries, bread and egg/quiche thingies. The hosts are a joy and I am looking forward to visit again.

The property and surroundings was magical. Serene natural beauty. The cottage was perfect for our family of three. My son loved swimming in the river. Overall a 10/10 experience. Something completely different compared to the rest of the country.

    You must love central Portugal to love Ansiao.

    You must love central Portugal to love Ansiao. It's a typical large village in central Portugal, but it has a lot of services, such as banks, lots of cafeterias, a great library, free wifi in the library and in some other areas, 2 large supermarkets (but not the best if you like more than just basic food or organic food, I was told Lidl will arrive next year - so fingers crossed). I really don't think there is anything special here, but there is a typical rural (but very unkept, not quaint at all - atmosphere outside of this small town, which some people like. Look, if you are looking for the stunning hills of Tuscany (Italy) and those amasing old but perfectly kept villages of Tuscany or Umbria, many Portuguese places like this one are NOT for you. There are so many badly kept houses and the whole place feels as if you live in a different century, but in an sort of unkept, messy, dirty, derelict way. Not the stunning San Gimingnano in Italy, to give you an example. Not even close. I suppose it's a cheap holiday in tranquility. But vegans and vegetarians will have difficulties in this area. I lost a few kilos because frankly, I found very little to eat.
