It was a magical city!!! Perched on the side of a mountain with sweeping views. We felt very safe even at night. I left my wallet on a pharmacy counter and when I returned it was there. Beautiful scenery, full of life! The people are extremely friendly and welcoming. The food is delicious, the souvenir shop at the top of the mountain has a lot of good things, and the prices are a little higher than in the city center. In the shop at the top of the mountain you can buy sheepskin products, leather and wool slippers, furs, and reasonable prices; you can also taste meat products, various sweet wines, cheeses, which is why these products are a little more expensive, but the price is only 1-2 euros more expensive. Of course, there are wines and cheeses in the small grocery stores in the city center, but it is not possible to try them. Unless you are very familiar with the taste of these products, it is better to taste them first. There is actually a Michelin restaurant here Laranjinha, which has been awarded Michelin since 2018, and the price is not expensive at all. It is very difficult to make a reservation online, but if you go to the site and arrive at 12:30 noon or 7:30 pm when it opens, you will always have a seat. An amazing small city located on a mountain.
An amazing small city located on a mountain. The city is separated into an older part and a more modern part which is located at the lowest part of the mountain. The city has a plethora of murals and street art and you can download a dedicated application where you can find where all the murals are located and have a self-tour. The old part of town has amazing buildings and you can get lost by walking in the small traditional streets. The restaurants are of high quality and all the food we tasted was simply amazing. Everything is new and looks/works very well. Very friendly and helpful staff. Amazing view at Cova da Beira (stayed at the 6th floor). Covilhã is also the best place to stay as it has lots of points of interest and is central to several others in the area.
