This is a true guest house where we felt welcomed as if we were family. We spent the last 4 days of our Madeira trip at CASA DOS REIS and loved it. The place was great for us. Breakfasts are delicious and abundant, the staff is lovely, kind and helpful. They all went out of their way to make our stay a special one. We got to rest, enjoy the sun. I did morning yoga by the pool. My 2.5 yr old was confortable exploring around. Its a quiet restored house up in the mountains, where you get to choose if you want to interact with others or just enjoy your time alone. Danilo and Luisa are sweet and very generous hosts -we shared good conversations and moments together. We definitely recommend it and would love to come back. Thanks for the wonderful stay!

Excellent location both to explore the island and visit the town. Quiet and peaceful area. A supermarket just round the corner. The town centre with a few good restaurant within the walking distance. The apartment itself very well equipped, clean and specious. Convenient parking space in the garage.

    Great local place.

    Great local place. I am very glad I have not spend the time in Funchal. From here I could explore the whole island and had my peace in the evening but with vibrant Sunday as all the locals come to town for their coffee and markets.

    The nature and surroundings are just stunning.

    The nature and surroundings are just stunning. It is so much to see around, people are so friendly and happy to help. Loved it, however could not do it without rental car. We hired large family car, however next time we would go for something smaller as roads are narrow and parking in the town could be challenging in the large car.

    The villa is wonderful for those with a vehicle and ability/desire to drive up the mountain - we found this particularly fun. There a number of stairs so check which villa you get - some have just 4 stairs some have 150 but all very quiet, private and beautiful.

    We used Ribeira Brava as a base for exploring walks in the west of Madeira using the local buses. It is a modern town in a narrow valley and lacks the charms of Funchal. However, it has a several eating places, shops and a small sheltered beach. It is a hub for a number of bus routes.

    I only have positives information to share.

    I only have positives information to share. There was a coffee bar a 5 minute walk from the hostel - D Luis Restaurante- delicious local feed- skewers on a Laurel stick with chunks of delicious local beef . Difficult to get around without a car. Next time I shall rent a car.

    Public transport in Madeira is a pain, so if you don't drive, it's not easy to get here. Bus information are lacking or are not very clear. Ribeira Brava is a quiet, cozy place, where you can have good restaurants, supermarket and can start nice trips from here.

    The hotel is for those who are in love with the culture and religion of the island of Bali. Every detail brings you back to this wonderful island - statues, incense, music, plants, surroundings. I was living in Bali for 5 years and I want to say that when I woke up in the morning at this hotel, I experienced the familiar happiness and relaxation. I’m in love with this hotel!

    We liked everything to be honest. Nice, well equipped apartment, not too far from a lovely black-sanded beach of Ribeira Brava. There were a minor issues with broadband and shower that, thanking to Hugo and Joana were fixed immidiately and we had quick broadband and hot showers. Jacuzzi was also a good addition to our great experience.

    The villa is very big, so we could scape from small hotel rooms. The bed in the main bedroom is very confortable. The garage is inside the house and quite big. And also having your own gym is a plus. Our anfitrion Daniel was great.

    Ribeira Brava is a lovely village with great amenities (restaurants, shops, museum, beach) and this flat is perfectly situated to access all of them. The property is of a good size in a beautiful location overlooking the ocean.
