    The city is excellent and offers a great deal of places to visit, like Hayashi Store for some amazing souvenirs, Confucius Temple to appreciate the ancient learning and culture, a lot of Museums to showcase the art and history of the city, and the fantastic night markets for local cuisine of Tainan. You can access most of these places just with a single YouBike.

    Go and see the old city at Anping - lots of interesting...

    Go and see the old city at Anping - lots of interesting history, including Fort Zeelandia. Tainan is the oldest city in Taiwan so it is worth exploring. It would have been fun to hire a bicycle but we only had an evening. Next time!

    I would not recommend visiting on a Monday as most of the shops, cafes and bars were shut during the day time and also in the evening it was quite difficult to find somewhere to eat. However it is an interesting city and if you can do a sunset cruise round the canals.

    We liked everything about Tainan.

    We liked everything about Tainan. The people in the street were so helpful and went out of their way to help whenever we asked for directions or had other questions. So many places to eat and the food is great.

    This city is celebrating it's 400-th anniversary.

    This city is celebrating it's 400-th anniversary. Many of the history to see. BUT the best is still the food. You MUST try the Fried Spanish mackerel thick soup (土魠魚羮). I will never get tired of the soup in Tainan!

    Tainan is one of the most popular destinations in Taiwan for...

    Tainan is one of the most popular destinations in Taiwan for both locals and visitors. Hotels are more expensive than in nearby Kaohsiung, which is a little over an hour away by train, so it is possible to stay in one city and do a day trip to the other... there is much to see and do in both cities. A little research before travelling will help with planning your trip to both Tainan and Kaohsiung and enjoying the best of both worlds. For those interested in history the Chimei Museum in Tainan is a must do but be aware this place is really popular both with tourists and locals... well over 1.5 million visits each year. The Chimei Museum has both a restaurant and coffee shop. Ten Drum Cultural Center is located directly opposite the museum and is a bit of an adventure playground that has a 5-story high extreme slide and a 7-story high free fall ride. The weather in Tainan in summer is hot and humid.

    Staff are well trained, they are all very pleasant, attentive and professional, make you feel welcomed. Facilities are decent, bed is comfortable. My room at level 31 offers a brilliant view over almost the entire Tainan city. Hotel is conveniently located at the back of Tainan railway station, it also connects to the Far Eastern shopping mall. Nearby is a university campus, surrounded by little eateries. My stay in Far East Shangri-La Tainan is a pleasant experience overall.

    This hotel is just a few steps from most of the Tainan historic places, so is very convenient for sightseeing in the centre. It's 20min wlak from TRA station, near the "Chikan tower". We did not like the room due to noise from the street and requested to change, which was provided to the quiet side of the building - thankfully! Breakfast had quite a selection of typical Taiwaneese breakfast specialties like seaweed and rice congee.

    Nice cozy boutique hotel beautifully decorated. Spacious room with a dining table, fridge and washing machine. I particularly like the shower head. Delicious steam bun in the morning and welcome afternoon tea are a bonus for room only rate. Really happy with my stay here at MSUG Hotel. I will definitely choose to stay here if I come to Tainan again .

    The hotel is brand new, artistic decors, quality bedding, and furnishings. The manager, Mr. Bruce Tsai has been excellent, courteous and provides professional service for customers. The hotel is close to ChiMei Museum, which is the must visit when in Tainan. Will definitely visit again in the future.

    Excellent location. The hotel is a short walk from the tainan train station and a bus stop near it with easy access to many buses to the main attractions in tainan. Staff are really pleasant and helpful. Room is spacious and well equipped.
