From the moment we arrived Sarah was the so welcoming and friendly, knowing all our names and the other details regarding our dietary issues, showing us around and telling us about the interesting history of the inn. Sarah and Jeff have styled the interiors beautifully, making every room fascinating to be in with so many extra touches, you feel you are more at home than in a hotel. We had our bedrooms but also full use of the living spaces and dining area fully stocked with drinks and treats baked by Sarah for our consumption. Sarah had taken the trouble to bake gluten and dairy free cookies for my son which he loved. This was by far my favorite place on our two week road trip and I would love to go back and stay longer next time. Breakfast was delicious, freshly prepared each morning taking account of the dietary issues of several people in our group.

I come twice a year to visit family at Washington and Lee and the Wingate is the cleanest. I’ve stayed at other hotels and they were dirty, smelly n disgusting.

    Goshen is one end of the Virginia Scenic Railway.

    Goshen is one end of the Virginia Scenic Railway. We went for the special Shenandoah Valley Limited run that features the old Norfolk-Western locomotive 611. An American engineering landmark recognized as such. So, it's a great place for Railway fans. It is also close to Cestari Wool company. If you are into knitting or any other application of wool, yarn, or other sheep products it is worthwhile going there and attend their tours. Apart from these two, there's not much else, however. The getting there is also what matters. Early mornings in the mountains help explain why the North Carolina neighbours are called "Smokey mountains". Fall is a particularly good time to visit. Goshen, and Berryville, with their Fiber Festival made a very nice weekend trip for the family.
