Hannibal is a nice quaint little town with a lot of Mark Twain History. Mark Twain Cave, Museums, the Lighthouse, Molly Brown House, etc. Lots to see and do. Makes for a great weekend getaway. We are repeat travelers there.

We just wanted a short getaway along the Mississippi and this fit our plans. I recommend Comfort Inn & Suites. They had fliers to find things to see, do, and restaurants with addresses and distances from the property. We went to Fiddlestiks and loved it. We paid SLIGHTLY more than we would have at a fast food restaurant and were stuffed when we left.

The main reason for our trip was to see the museums and homes of the "Geniuses" along Highway 36 in Missouri, ending with our destination of Hannibal to take in the Mark Twain history. We had a very nice dinner cruise on the Mark Twain Riverboat but when we tried to go through the Mark Twain boyhood home, it was not advertised either on the home's web page or any other internet source that there was no access to the Boyhood Home itself for a disabled person using a walker or wheelchair. I was very disappointed at the way the staff there treated me, actually told me I should be able to get down the two stairs to the courtyard with my walker to see the two rooms on the first floor of the Boyhood Home but then were was no elevator to the second floor where the majority of the things we came to see were housed. At least they were kind enough to refund me for our two tickets and promised to put something on their website about the lack of disabled access. We left there to shop at a lovely Mercantile shop downtown called Mississippi Mercantile and they staff there were very helpful and the store was full of great items. I'd recommend stopping by their shop.

It was interesting to visit Mark Twain's Cave and learn a bit of history of the town, but after a quick afternoon, there isn't much to do. The Main Street shopping only has a few interesting stores. While the shop keepers were very nice, most wares are just touristy junk that you can find in any tourist city. There wasn't anything unique that I couldn't find any place else. Every other store was closed, also. I wish I'd only spent one day there instead of 2, and frankly, I'll never go back.

If you haven't done so, try visiting in late April. We love driving the back roads and the road south along the river for our trip to Cuiver River State Park down near Troy, MO. The dogwoods are remarkable and just flood the ravines. A return trip in October offers quite an enjoyable leaf viewing experience, although you get to enjoy all the trees (other than dogwoods) along the heavily wooded country-side on your journey back down along the river to Cuiver River Park again,

Hannibal is a cute and fairly well-preserved Rivertown where you can find yourself lost in history and enjoy some quiet time outside. You can definitely see everything in about a day and a half, making it a good/easy weekend trip. I would most recommend the Rockcliff mansion which is a stunning example of the opulence of the Gilded Age just before the Great Depression. I’ve been on a lot of house tours and never seen one with so much of the original furnishings, woodwork, tile, and stain glass. The Mark Twain cave and the Mark Twain riverboat cruise are also must-sees. There are some great antique shops if you like looking for hidden treasures . The food scene is a little hit and miss, but Java Jive is a great place for breakfast, pastries, delicious coffee, and unique gifts.

We originally booked a room with 1 Queensize bed and a sleep couch, but only learned at the hotel that we would need to prepare the couch ourselves. Thankfully, the receptionist was very forthcoming and offered us an alternative room with 2 beds. We appreciated the helpful and pragmatic attitude. The hotel is well-maintained and a short drive from Hannibal's attractions. It is suitable for short as well as prolonged stays.

From the moment we walked in the door, we felt welcome. The hotel owner was exceptionally nice and seemed genuinely happy that we were there. The facility was very clean and well maintained. I don’t have a single complaint or negative comment about the Hannibal, Mo Super 8 and would definitely recommend this to anyone traveling in the area!!

Very unique and beautiful old property with great history. Chris, the host was very welcoming and gave me a lovely run down of the history and some places to visit in Hannibal. Really comfy bed and nice cooling system, which was perfect as it was really hot outside.
