Murdo in September seems to be shutting down. The Circle E drive in was closed on Saturday and one other day, there were only two restaurants open on a Saturday night, the Buffalo restaurant and the pizza place. We did enjoy the Buffalo restaurant though it was heck-a busy and there was a wait list. But, and this is a big but, it's hard to find anything near badlands that is decent. Murdo has a few good motels and the restaurants were good, so for a badlands town, I recommend it (about 70 minutes east of Badlands).

Highly recommend the Pioneer Auto Show... noting that not...
Highly recommend the Pioneer Auto Show... noting that not only does it contain autos, but many antiques from the 1900 to 1990. Antique sewing machines to PacMan machines. You have to look... allow at least 2 hours. Also recommend their cafe for breakfast.
Absolutely recommend the hamburgers at Circle E Drive In. One of the best on our weeklong trip including the Black Hills. You can eat inside, outside or just drive thu and pick up. French fries were amazing.

I stayed at this hotel with a friend who was assisting me in driving a UHaul across I-90. We weren’t sure how far we would get that travel day so I didn’t make advance reservations however they were able to accommodate us which we appreciated. Murdo is a very small town with not many choices of places to stay. Breakfast was adequate and we enjoyed chatting with some of the other customers at breakfast. Staff was friendly as well.

I was very impressed with the Ireland Inn. Even in the offseason of this tourist town, I found the perfect room for my one night stay and at the most reasonable price. Very clean and quiet and I found the owner to be very pleasant and helpful. If you find yourself in Murdo and need a one night stay or a weeklong stay, you can't go wrong with this one.
Did not work well for traveling with a baby. No stow away cribs which usually hotels have. Also since I had to bath the baby noticed hair in areas of the bathroom that should have been cleaned
