Salado is a beautiful little town with so much to do and see. We enjoyed the Art Galleries, glass blowing store, Strawberry coffee shop and so many more great stores and antique stores. We had dinner at the Alexander's restaurant. The service and the food was delicious. We watched deer and their babies from the window of the restaurant. We stayed at the Stagecoach Inn and that was a pleasant stay and relaxing. We celebrated our 54th wedding anniversary and it was wonderful. We will be going back!

It is a wonderful little town with a stagecoach day history.
It is a wonderful little town with a stagecoach day history. Some old-time or notable families live in the area. The late singer Holly Dunn is buried locally. There is an annual Scottish festival and other events. There are arts and crafts shops downtown. It is very quaint. The geography in the area is limestone-heavy, which makes a stroll or hike along Salado Creek near the old stage depot quite nice. Overall, Salado is a very pleasant place for a quiet getaway or to take in events as they occur. We have come there from time to time for many years.

Loved the local shops and family-owned restaurants along the shopping strip. The Happy Pizza Co. was a favorite and a place called the Shed offered casual outdoor dining. Many placed are closed on Monday, check with each vendor. I drove to downtown Belton for dining and shopping on Monday since many places in Salado were closed on Mondays. Miller's Smokehouse in Belton is surprisingly a great stop for breakfast.

Love the laid back atmosphere, scenic riverscape, the large number of shops to explore, inluding antiques, clothing, accessories, art, pottery, glass blowing, breweries and wine, etc. The walkability of the town is a real plus with easy access to the spring fed Salado Creek. It has not been overly commercialized like others, and retains a more natural and eclectic vibe. There is something for everyone. Prices are very reasonable.

Loved the location! It was nice and quiet I was able to rest & enjoy looking at all the deer...so serene. Location was kept clean and tidy which I loved & I will stay again in the near future. I recommend as a place to stay if you're planning a trip near Salado.
