We loved everything, a great place to stay. We spend 2 nights here during our honeymoon. We felt very welcome, they had a nice gift for us as newlyweds which we enjoyed. The quality of the food was very nice. We also booked a private hike with a very nice guide. We would love to come back soon!

We loved the spacious ambience and the cosy and at the same time modern interior, everything seems chosen with love and taste but not too "chic". We loved the fantastic view and the relaxing loneliness. We ordered breakfast, lunch or barbecue baskets. These were prepared and presented with love and care - and just delicious!!! The Drakensberge are THE hiking resort for small and long hikes. For any issue , Kerry and her husband were available and helpful at any time.

Very nice location, you can relax if you want, but also a nice base camp for hikes in the Dragon mountains. Breakfast (included) is excellent, but also the evening dinners (menu of the day) are always a pleasant surprise. The lodges are comfortable and spacey with a nice view over a meadow, where white herrons and Ibis feed.

    Great area, very scenic and relaxing.

    Great area, very scenic and relaxing. Family friendly activities available. Not a lot of outside eating options though so it’s always best to stay at an accomodation that offers all or part of the catering.

    We used the resort as a stay over to hike the Drakensberg as it was convenient and close to most of the hiking trails in Royal Natal, apart from the trails starting from Witsieshoek Mountain Resort in the Free State (chain ladder).

    The roads are quiet and enjoyable to drive on at any speed...

    The roads are quiet and enjoyable to drive on at any speed without having to worry about traffic, hence giving you the chance to enjoy the scenery. As there is no street lighting, it is advisable to avoid diving at night as some areas have huge potholes that can be hard to spot in the dark

    The Cavern is a wonderful place to stay and unwind.

    The Cavern is a wonderful place to stay and unwind. The meals are delicious and the Spa is a little slice of heaven. The rooms are clean and comfortable and they all have good views. I’ve been going to The Cavern for nearly 20 years now and intend to keep going back again and again!

    We shopped there and the Spar was adequate though expensive.

    We shopped there and the Spar was adequate though expensive. The town itself is not great but fairly litter free. the Lodges and accommodation around Bergville seem very nice, I would definitely go back to the area.

    Breakfast waitress was so helpful and courteous, and breakfast itself was packed on two plates (mince was separate). Best value for money. Hot water pool was our daily (sometimes more) go-to leisure. The shop prices were very reasonable - the comparison of brickettes prices from Bergville Spar was favourable. The patio braai was convenient, and I was able to braai whilst it rained. The hamburgers from the trailer were pretty good, we ate outside with the view the beautiful Drakensberg mountains in the distance.

    The environment is superb. Getting fresh mountain air into our lungs, not hearing any traffic or human noise was magnificent. Just a tranquil, beautiful Drakensberg setting with ample birdlife and farm scenery. Bergville is 8 minutes drive and Winterton a quick 20 km further. And getting into the center of Central Drakensberg takes 40 minutes by car. Sitting outside in the garden in deep comfortable chairs, watching the stars is amazing. Sublime!

    Quite possibly the best stay I’ve experienced on the planet. To be ranked a “3 Star” Accommodation is misleading as this is a place which exceeds the expectations of even a 5 star hotel. The establishment is incredibly well run, the staff and overly friendly and attentive and the location is as from a dream. The most beautiful and remarkable place. Book it, now! You won’t regret.
