The hotel was conveniently located, just off the sea, with a nice walk to the waterfront. The breakfast offered a vast range of delicious foods. You could spend up to 300 rands, and your belly was full. The premise was clean, faultless and staff very friendly.

This place is just a gem - on the Sea Point, waking distance from the public pool and well positioned to wake up to the sound of the ocean. The breakfast is exceptional and goes until 11am, which is so important and rare to find these days.

From the moment I arrived, Russell & Allen were the most amazing hosts; warm, attentive, and always available with great advice on what to do in Cape Town. They truly go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable and at home. The property itself is simply stunning. Every detail, every object feels carefully curated, transporting you to another time with its beauty and charm. It’s an experience in itself! Everything about my stay was perfect. If you are looking for a unique and welcoming place to stay in Cape Town, Hotel Lola is an absolute gem. Highly recommend!

FAQs about hotels in Cape Town

Cool, Colourful Cape

Between mountains and beaches, the 2nd largest city in South Africa mixes history, resilient modernity, and a typical laidback African character. From the top of Table Mountain to the colourful Bo Kaap quarter, and from the Victoria & Albert Waterfront to the modern business district, Cape Town blends multicultural influences and beautiful nature.

Known as Kaapstad in Afrikaans, its sunny weather and mild temperatures make it a perfect place to enjoy the large number of beaches that surround it. From Sunset Beach to Hout Bay, and from Simon’s Town to Gordon Bay, this city offers a variety that suits all tastes. Whale and dolphin watching is a popular activity in False Bay.

Located on the Cape of Good Hope, the city was founded in 1652 by a Dutch trading company as a way-station for ships travelling to the East Indies. With the settling process, all sorts of foreign plants were introduced, including the grapes in the famous Cape Winelands District, just outside Cape Town.

Cape Town’s history does have some darker periods, and some of its memorable places from this time deserve to be visited: Robben Island jail, the City Hall from which Nelson Mandela gave his first public speech, and the statues of the 4 South African Nobel Peace Prize winners on the V&A Waterfront.

We were worried about safety but there are plenty of security people around town and we only felt wary when walking around at night. Plenty to see and do. Absolutely pick your time to go to Table mountain - if you don't do fast track you might have to wait over 2 hours. V&A waterfront shopping isn't cheap! Easy to get around town on the hop on hop off bus. The city pass is definitely worth the money.

Cape Town is beautiful and if you enjoy seeing the stark contrasts between those who have and those who do not, then you won't be troubled by what the city will present to you. The city has a lot to answer for in allowing Cape Town to be sold to the highest bidder and the continuing lack of access to affordable housing is one of the results of this greed. These workers, who enable the tourist economy to happen have huge distances to travel between work and home. The quality of the seawater has to be monitored because there is a daily quota of untreated wastewater that gets pumped into the seas that nestle the shorelines of the blue flag beaches. Travel with a conscience, travel to make a difference, travel to invest in the people of the place not just consume what it has to offer.

The perfect place to be at in Africa as far as I know, you cant go wrong with Cape Town. The food, the City itself, I like being in the cbd, Massage but at right places, The Red Bus Tour for the whole day, the visibility of police at all times and the security in all the streets especially during the night and they are very helpful!

The visit to cape town was good barring the unpredictable weather. This time, mostly the wind on the odd occasion. Always tag along a light sweater/top just incase there is a change in conditions. Loads of entertainment and activities to suite all. Hiking trails, site seeing, kayaking, etc. Good food places and historical sites. Getting around is easy with the my citi bus/uber/bolt.
