The views are immaculate! The heart and soul is truly the staff. Joelle, the manager, is an absolute a gem! The food is delicious, Jean is an incredible chef who goes out of his way to accommodate special requests and comes out and helps make your dining experience special. There’s truly nothing like this property. It’s a home they turned into a hotel and it’s so intimate. We will definitely be back!!

Situated in Ruhengeri, 45 km from Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, Karisimbi Cave Resort features accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a terrace. I loved that it was a women owned eco resort. No plastic water bottles. The staff was wonderful. Helped me beyond belief getting the tour I really wanted with a great guide. Good food and even an espresso machine!!!

Set in Ruhondo, 49 km from Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, Ruhondo Island Retreat offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a terrace and a bar. It was so quiet and chilled and the food was excellent. The staff were really friendly as were the other guests….. slept like a log, glorious views from our cabin and there was plenty to do (if u wanted to)…, We did a lovely boat trip around the other islands and a fantastic bike mountain bike ride thru rural Rwanda. We even stopped at a school to meet the children and see them in their classrooms…

To all my fellow travellers: don't miss this place. It has just opened, they are still adding new services, and it is already a little wonder: The lodge, which is a little higher than the road, offers and magnificent view and it is placed very near to the entrance of Akagera national park. There is no closest hotel, except for those in the park itself; The rooms, which draw their character from the beautiful wooden style, are incredibly confortable, well designed, with a little terrasse perfect to read in this magic atmosphere; The swimming pool is simple but perfect to relax after the "African massage" of the safari road, with a beautiful view; The restaurant also points to the mountain in front, it has the same wooden style, a nice bar and a view to the kitchen to see the Chef in action; The place is also thought well so that it is serving and benefiting the community around: not only is it ecological and affordable, Akagera Park Inn buys its food from the local farmers, it is building a local shop to promote local crafts, it is working with local guides and massage centers, it aims to make its economic adventure an inclusive one that benefits the community. And of course, I have to mention the team who made everything to ensure that I had a good stay. For example, I received a warm welcome with fresh fruit mocktail and warm towel, they offered a little lunchpack for the safari, were extremely flexible with dinner and breakfast time, and put me in contact with the Ellie, a wonderful young guide who showed me around, took me for a brochette and some banana wine after the safari.

Akagera Ihema lodges has a garden, terrace, a restaurant and bar in Akagera. The staff were fantastic and great, they quickly resolved any issues and super friendly. We shall be back.

Umutuzo Lodge Kivu Lake features an outdoor swimming pool, garden, a private beach area and shared lounge in Buhoro. The property has a terrace, as well as a bar. Really knowledgeable and engaging staff members and activities. Beautiful location.
