Hotels in Shuhe Old Town, Lijiang

The hospitality and care for the wellness of their guests go beyond expectations and anything I have ever experienced in a hotel. From the first moment of walking through the doors and being greeted by May and HeiMi (the cat), I felt the warmness of stepping foot into Bivou-instantly, I was at a place that felt like home. Right when we stepped through the threshold, we were offered homemade bread (that I could still taste even now) and some delicious apple tea. The ayis (aunties) helped move our heavy luggage into the beautiful room, and spent time introducing the activities in the hotel, activities we could do around Lijiang, and different hikes that we could go on. Our room was so COMFORTABLE - high ceilings, spacious bathroom with a rain shower, clean and woodsy interior, and firm beds with warming mats. The welcome package included lotion, lip balm, and the most comprehensive maps of Lijiang, as well as a binder filled with activities to do. The activities weren't your typical "tourist" activities but they were incredibly curated, local gems like biking to Baishi village and going to see the Naxi orchestra (Nomi helped booked for us! Thank you!). The owner of Bivou is so fun and helpful - she gave us a map for Tiger Leaping Gorge and even helped us arrange a hotel on the trail! For a lot of my stay in Lijiang, I was sick (some food poisoning), but the ayis, especially May, kept me alive - not even exaggerating. They went out of their way to cook porridge for me, recommended and brewed red tea for my stomach ache, delivered homemade soup and dumplings up to the room, and changed the bed sheets at midnight for us. The Bivou cafe was the ONLY place I trusted to eat at because I wasn't feeling well. The food is so healthy, fresh, homecooked with love, and absolutely healing. Bivou is not your typical boutique hotel, not the Banyan, nor the Four Seasons.

Great looking authentic Naxi style house, yet room is very large, modern and comfortable. Top location a few minutes walk away from Shuhe old town. Hosts are a model of helpfulness, and genuinely nice people. Do yourself a favor and spend a couple nights with Johnson and Carol. Bonus: cute kid and dog to play with :)

What we like abt this place is something that many inns/hotels don’t have. Genuine care for the guests’ well being, attention to details, not to mention the excellent service that the team has provided for us. Esp. Xiao Chen and the inn keeper her self. Room rate and prices of the goods sold here are fair and decent for the quality. Many corners of this beautiful inn are work of art. The owner is like a painter who needs a bigger canvas. I wish she has a bigger landscape /space for more people to enjoy lots of great stuffs here: tea brewing, yummy vegetarian dishes. Place is tranquil. If we want to enjoy Su He, this place is a great place to stay. Or if you simply want to have relaxing retreat, wu ai dang is a great place to stay. Another plus point: the inn keeper recommended transportation service (Wan Wan) to us. She is really really a great driver and guide. Very polite and provide the same genuine care for us. She arranged one day trip around Lijiang which includes a couple of places that many do not know (feeding the flying seagulls, visiting beautiful shrine) and we had yummy local foods together.

The homestay enjoys a prime location, near the South Gate of Shuhe Ancient Town, with convenient transportation and a beautiful surrounding environment. The room environment is exactly to my liking, and it offers extremely high - cost performance. Both the service and facilities exceeded my expectations. The housekeeper warmly entertained us, was responsive to all requests and answered all questions, making us feel at home. There is a private parking lot, free charging piles, and a laundry room. There is an elevator on all four floors. The young men and women at the inn greet us warmly when we enter and leave, and they help us make travel plans to avoid tourist traps. The environment of the store is simply breathtaking. The stay experience was wonderful, and I highly recommend it!

Peaceful, quiet and location close to the Shuhe Ancient Town.

The boss was so enthusiastic that we went to the Tiger leaping Gorge and came back to stay again. The scenery of the ancient city is very good, eat more, Jiuge rice noodles and flower cakes are delicious.

Staying here is one of the best decisions, the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. The location is a bit of a distance from the old town, yet it's still within walking range, and convient to take didi. The room is just as lovely as depicted in the pictures. Plus, the dog and cat extremely cute!
