The owner was extremely helpful. We arrived in the evening after most restaurants closed, and he went out of his way to tell us about possible food in the area. He also offered to drive us to the train station when we checked out. The guest house is a nice traditional Japanese house out of the main city. It was overall a great experience and definitely worth the money.

This house was fun! A machiya of the 21st century, full of gadgets, quirky and amazing, with every niche giving a different surprise. We loved the garden, had some dinners outside looking into it. We LOVED to use the bikes around the neighbohood, especially going to the bathouse, temples and restaurants - that made us feel really like the locals. The nearby Kyoto-style restaurant, and its next door sushi place are amazing. The location of the house is great - quiet old neigbohood, close to the center and ideal point from which to explore such a special city/province.

So elegant, tidy and beautiful, with traditional japanese furniture inside it’s just the kind of ryokan I hope to stay in. Host and hostess are the most friendly people you can ever see, they try their best to make us feel like at home. I love the location, though maybe it’s somehow remote from the center, but every center in every big city is really a boring same , while living in such a house makes you feel like you have been indulged into the local community, have a glance of the peaceful and rhythmic japanese life. We will choose to live here again next time we visit kyoto.

Great hosts. The owners are very kind and friendly - its fantastic to chat with the chef while he is preparing the dinner. He gave us a ride for an early morning tour and even managed to find us one of the clay cooking pots. The place is a bit out of central kyoto but perfect for avoiding crowds- and for a bit more of an authentic experience

Kumiko was so friendly and the house is very traditional and cosy. The location is up in the mountains so it’s really peaceful, we got the bus and it was easy as we didn’t have much luggage. Both bedrooms were comfortable, the house has lots of amenities, and it was spotlessly clean.

Cozy two floored traditional Japanese house at a quiet and not touristy neighborhood near kinkakuji (Golden temple) Self check in and self checkout, beautiful small garden, comfortable living space, and even bicycles you can take to ride the city, which we really enjoyed. The self check in procedure was short and easy, with detailed explanations so that there's nothing to worry about. Very clean house and shower / toilet. The futon were arranged beforehand. The stairs upstairs are narrow and steep like most traditional Japanese houses. If you're afraid you might not be able to climb them then it might be better to contact the accommodation on arranging the futons at the ground floor. We didn't have any problem with that.
