Loved the building! fires roaring! (January) Lovely welcome at reception. Nice clean family room with comfy beds. Evening meal was very nice and reasonably priced. Breakfast was very good. Spot on location. Will be visiting again. Would recommend.

Great location at the market sqare. Perfect location for starting the Cleveland Way. Lovely room in a little cottage directly behind the pub. Clean room and bathroom. Friendly staff. Excellent food and breakfast in the pub/restaurant.

everything the room was large, the bed was comfortable and warm. The hotel is a relaxing & comfortable atmosphere the staff were fantastic. I had a wonderful relaxing stay and can’t wait to go back . the food was excellent & nothing was to much trouble for the staff very accommodating

The staff were amazing, as a family with a young child, travelling can be stressful. The staff made every interaction joyful and stress free. The surrounding area is beautiful as well. The food was unreal, every meal we had was absolutely brilliant.

This is a stunning, modern hotel which has recently opened. A lot of thought has gone into the decor and furnishings which are very tasteful. We stayed in a beautiful bedroom with a gorgeous en-suite bathroom. The large double bed was extremely comfortable. Breakfast was included in the price and it was delicious and cooked to perfection. It was served in the conservatory overlooking a delightful garden. Hospitality was first class as all the staff we encountered at Dewars were friendly and attentive.

    The staff in all areas are excellent. Friendly and helpful. The food is good, however what you need to bear in mind is that the hotel is single glazed and if you have a room facing the square you get traffic noise and also noise from drinkers who are outside. As with many hotels there was a function on which also produced the thump thump of music which when combined with the noise outside made sleeping impossible. I would point out it was the England/Swiss match which probably added to the noise.

    We booked here last minute as we weren’t happy with a previous room we had booked somewhere else. We asked for a twin room but when we arrived it wasn’t available so they offered us the family room which was huge. The bed was so comfortable and the room had all the amenities except water but we were given some when we went to reception. The breakfast was really good. My only slight criticism was the pillows weren’t the best but maybe they’ll change them for future reference

    What a well run operation this was. An old fashioned-style pub with a homely, relaxing atmosphere. The hotel itself is a warren of corridors with charming pictures and displays. We had a family room and our 4 year-old kids loved the bunk beds (with safety bar) and the main bed was really big - fantastic. All the usual amenities. The food is good. Free parking is round the back.

    great location. beautiful historic building with lots of character. great enclosed garden, ideal for the dog. loved the log fires. great family room, huge double bed and kids loved the bunkbeds.
