Everything was just perfect, from the 2 bedrooms to every tiny detail. We were welcomed very warmly, got a tour of the house and farm, got details of what to see, what to do, where to go and eat. We stayed at The Old Refectory for seven nights, and from the very first moment we felt at home thanks to the warm authenticity of our hosts, Nicola and Rob. Their genuine hospitality shone through in every detail, whether it was the thoughtful suggestions that led us to hidden gems in O’Neill country (Ulster) or the occasional homemade treat that appeared just in time for our day’s adventures. Breakfast was always a delight, and as vegetarians we especially savored the Ulster fry: hearty, delicious, and prepared with care. The rooms themselves are charming and full of character, beautifully reflecting the history and spirit of the place. The gentle presence of the donkey and the many cats gave the house a comforting, homely atmosphere, as if we were part of a larger family. And in the evenings, to sit in the garden with a book while the light lingered in the long summer air, those are moments we will treasure.
